The disclaimer above should be fair warning about this book. One of the reasons many of us are drawn to erotica is that it allows us to vicariously live out our fantasies without injury or jail time. The story of a promiscuous woman's sexual adventures is a staple in male fantasy. I reality, when a woman is promiscuous she risks unintended pregnancy, STD's injury or even death. Don't let the title of this book fool you, "Cheerleaders in Heat" is not a featherweight installment of Girls Gone Wild. It's about the erotic odyssey of Cherie, who's bored with her dating life and goes on-line to find more action. And she does. If you are a reader searching for an unflinching look at the joys, sorrows, fears and terrors of an adventurous woman's life, this will be a five star book for you. It's hot, dangerous, funny and yes violent.

Overly-porned & Underly-realistic Erotica

This story goes far beyond the blurred lines between Erotica and pornography. It definitely left Erotica in the dust and fell straight into the porn category. While the writing is technically accurate and the grammar fits the story, the content makes sure to take every pornographic scenario that could be thought up, threw them all into a pot and simmered them into print. The storyline is too weak to stand out among the other activities happening, and is often lost within the abundance of sex. The sex covers any number of possible fetishes and stays true to pornographic style, not what I would classify as Erotica.

Now just like most other warm-blooded human people, I do enjoy some occasional porn, but what put me off in this book was the violence within. The description clearly provides a warning, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. The level of abuse in the story is something that soured the whole story for me. I like my vanilla porn with some sprinkles, but rape and beatings melt it down like midday in the desert.

I had real trouble with the language used in abundance. There are some phrases that remind me of vintage porn that seems meant to be as vulgar as possible without adding merit to the story. Realistically, even in this age group, I haven't encountered actual people using some of the descriptive phrases found in this work and I have been in my fair share of sketchy situations.

Frankly, I think that this book went way too far off the Erotica base and landed squarely in the realm of pornography. That is alright, I don't think it will go down in history as a profound statement in literary works of art, but I don't think that is what the authors intended either.

Somewhere past the midpoint of the story the fast forward button was pushed which made it seem as if the female lead was magically transformed into a completely different person. As the end approached, I found myself wondering something that I have never wondered before… How many STD’s are these characters harboring and why would she put someone she supposedly cares about in jeopardy?

The ending was more than lackluster for me. It felt forced and disjointed from the rest of the story line. I think the problem for me lies with the male character in the end. Between the ill-fitting personality and the unrealistic scenarios, the character didn’t grasp my attention or help make me believe the already inconceivable story.

I don't usually read anything but mysteries, however, I was intrigued by the cover and name of "Cheerleaders in Heat." WOW! There was more action--sexual and otherwise, than I've seen in some mystery thrillers.
This book manages to combine light-hearted trysts, with heavy romance, anger, and menages of many kinds. I didn't expect to enjoy the read as I most surely did, and the unexpected ending knocked me out of my chair! Kudos to Muffy Wilson and her co-author--they know sex, drugs and football...

Humor and heat, all tumbling together in a wild sensuous ride, with all the thrills, turns, unexpected dips and curls of a wild amusement park roller coaster. If you enjoy contemporary erotic reading., I would recommend enthusiastically and without reservation.
