    This was a really good female (well the lead detective anyway) cop book with great support cast , it made you think, it made you not wanting to put the book down. Waiting for her next book, I'd be very surprised if that's not as good as this one. Do yourself a favour and read this book.

Madison has such difficulty trying to negotiate all the possible suspects whilst her partner is on a errors wait for his wife to be delivered of a healthy child. Madison love life nearly suffers irreparable le damage however thanks to a surprise person she recovers her equilibrium. A us read.

    What a great read detective Madison Knight, and her partner Terry are on a race to find out who killed three people, two of whom were related in the meantime, her partner Terry and his wife are about to give birth to a baby in the meantime, detective Madison Knight, and another gentleman from the precinct. His name is Troy and this is Madison‘s new boyfriend. He was helping her towards the end because he did not want her going off on her own. This was such a great read. I enjoy Carolyn Arnold so much now I’m on to book 7 of this series, anyone wants a great series with a kick butt female detective this is your series.🩷📚😊

    Body found in a wheel chair outside the very hospital she protests outside of each day, young woman killed and is dressed in a vagrants clothes two deaths (three really but one is not Madison's case) is it one or two murderers. On top of that Terry's wife is about to give birth and Madison's love life is walking a thin line. Oh my word there is so much going on when you open the box no book out comes strippers vagrants families great aunts sisters and men and Madison is the one who has to sort it all out . A great read plenty going on and twists red herrings are all there. Oh and then there's Troy. I recommend this book for its mystery it's fun and the twists and turns

    Once again, Carolyn Arnold has penned a strong and impactful tale in the sixth book in the Detective Madison Knight mystery series, Deadly Impulse . Madison is suffering from flashbacks from her abduction by Russian criminals, but when a suspicious death of a sixty-eight-year-old woman becomes a murder case, her compulsion to find justice kicks in. Teamed up with her partner of six months, Detective Terry Grant, they must sift through the evidence and lies to find what has really happened and why.

    The book is a good mix of police investigation and the personal lives of Madison, Troy, and Terry. Readers are quickly pulled into the story line with a writing style that grabs and holds one’s attention. The plot is multi-layered and has twists and turns to keep a reader guessing. Fluid writing, great characterization, and a mystery to be solved kept me engaged. My one quibble is that I would like a little more world-building to feel like I was in Pennsylvania. Themes include, murder, friendship, trust, relationships, secrets, and much more.

    Overall, this was a story that captivated me from the first page to its last. The author did a great job of weaving the threads together. I look forward to seeing what is next for Madison, Troy, and Terry. Readers of mysteries and police procedurals will likely enjoy this series. By reading the series in order, the character growth and the relationships that develop over time are more obvious. However, this novel can be read as a stand-alone.

    I purchased a copy of this novel. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date was October 29, 2015.
