Haiku and senryu of the highest caliber, alongside gorgeous illustrations and preceded by an eloquent introduction by one of ELH community's most articulate and interesting voices, the reading of which alone is worth investigating for!! Such a noble and valuable initiative, and deeply admirable venture for its contributions to fighting homelessness also. They truly picked a promising and intriguing theme and selected brilliant material exploring its many facets, equally timeless and yet highly relevant in our modern geopolitical landscape. Can't recommend this book highly enough, shall be remembered as figuring in the highest echelon of anthologies of this year and all time. Exquisite poetry painstakingly selected, artfully orchestrated and beautifully designed. Bravo!

Full disclosure, I am one of the poets included in the gorgeous volume. As a poet and a practicing Zen Buddhist the haiku is at onve the simplesy and most complex poetic form you will encounter. This volume, with writers from so many countries is a stellar example of the Japanese form. A haiku is a distillation of a story, an emotion, a moment in time and space. Here you will travel to distant places and within yourself. Each poem creates a universe, and you will carry them with you long after you close the book.
