I really enjoyed Ellea's growth from being scared of her magic to learning how to use it and becoming a powerful witch as she makes the most of her time in Hel. I also loved that she straight up gives on of the Kings of Hell, and her boyfriend's dad, a cutesy nick name "Daddy Azzy" haha. 😂

While I felt bad for Ros and the gang being separated from Ellea I enjoyed seeing the bond amongst the friend group as they fought their way to Hel to get Ellea back. 💪

I loved that when Ros gets to Ellea it's clear that she doesn't need saving and is in fact already knee deep in sneaking around rescuing souls and trying to change the unfair separation of supers and humans in the afterlife. She's quite clearly well equipped to rule Hel and Ros needs to get onboard with that. 👑

But of course with prophecies, Ellea's evil mother bent on world destruction, a huge battle and meddling Gods - there's action a plenty. ⚔

If you like steamy, extra spicyyy dark romance with cool supernaturals, loveable characters, court intrigue in Hel and some tricky, tricky magic check this one out 🔥

If you missed it, check out my "ARC Reacts" highlight because I honestly still can't find a way of forming coherent thoughts about it. Apart from telling y'all to 𝘙𝘌𝘈𝘋 𝘐𝘛 because you're seriously missing out if you don't!

This book/series are actually up there with ACOTAR for me now (𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦). The sheer about of absolutely 🥵 characters that Lexi introduces in this book (on top of the ones already there) should honestly be ïllêgål! I once again am left reeling by Lexi Campbell. I absolutely devoured this book, and it did so many things right.

One of the best things that Campbell consistently hits out of the park are character relationships. As much as I am here for Ellea and Ros’s relationship, the dynamic between all of the friends is so intriguing and natural. Devon is one of the best side characters ever, in my opinion.

I love how the expectation of Hel and the King of Hel is subverted. It was such a shock, but I actually loved the decision to break these common tropes. It made the book even more intriguing, and I was fascinated by how the afterlife works in this universe.

One thing that left me a little disappointed was the action. We get such a good build-up, and then I felt like the action fell a little flat. The obstacle felt a little too easy and the scenes didn’t last long enough for me to feel like this obstacle was as dangerous or powerful as the series had made it seem up until this point. However, I kept reading with fervor because I was so invested.

I need the next book immediately. While this book mostly wraps up in a neat little bow, there are loose strings that pose questions I need answers to. I definitely recommend this one!

I really loved the expanding of the world. It wasn’t overwhelming but still was in depth. The descriptions were so vivid and I felt like I was really there. I can’t wait to see even more in future books.

The beginning with Ros and Ellea being separated killed me, but I also loved the new characters we met and that reunion was worth it. The beginning gave of Queen of Shadows vibes with the separation but also the set up for future plot points. I definitely met some new favorite characters this book. They were all so unique and well rounded, and not just filler characters.

I had so much fun seeing Ellea and Ros’s relationship grow and all the trouble they got up to. They went through a bit of a rough patch, but made up in their typical fashion. The banter in this book is top notch. I can’t wait to see even more of them!

I did feel like some parts of this book were a little jumpy and would have also liked to see a bit more plot and action scenes mixed in. The fluff scenes were so great and I love me some fluff but, at times I felt like there could have been a bit more expanding of the plot.

Overall this was a marvelous sequel! I loved how the ending was action packed and then that epilogue left room for expanding in other books and was shocking. This series is one I highly recommend. There’s an incredible FMC, a broody MMC, and other great characters, plus some super cool magic and supernaturals!
