Peace Like A River (Valiant Scribe Anthologies Book 3) Kindle Edition

5.0 out of 5 stars 4 ratings

In moments of stillness, we hear not only the earth but also the heavens. The world is loud and distracting at times. It is easy to carry the heavy lessons we learn on earth with us long after we should have set them down. But we must set them down. Each morning, we must awake to a new start and welcome what new lessons the earth has for us. And if we are lucky, we also catch glimpses of the heavens in our days, if we pay attention and allow ourselves to see them.

The contributors to this anthology share their stories, their words, from the moments when they are most awake and in moments when they find peace. They are speaking of both heaven and earth. Will you be still enough to listen?

List of Contributors: Mark Blickley, Mike Dailey, Dawn DeBraal, Chi Deraa (Udochukwu Chidera), Stacie Eirich, Nadine Ellsworth-Moran, Amy L. George, Katherine M. Gotthardt, Evie Groch, Ann Iverson, Kevin Miller, Marsha Warren Mittman, Leslie Neustadt, MacAnthony Uzoma Nwokoibem, Ronald J. Pelias, Karl Plank, Andrew Scott, Mark Stucky, Vicki Vogt, Russell Willis, and Susan Gore Zahra.

I know there are lovers of short stories and those who only prefer novels. This anthology will change you mind and show the true power of the short story genre. Most of the short stories are a quick but powerful read.
Whether you are immersed in a Lagos protest, observations outside the window during a covid lockdown, or my favorite story “An Eye on Hope,” which is a must read concerning our current times.
The anthology continues with prose poems and one of my favorites was “I could,” a beautiful write about moments in living.
Poetry is also well represented with inspirational and must-read lines by some amazing poets who I will search out for more of their work.
This anthology is well written and well organized with the themes of faith and hope throughout.
If you purchase one book this year, please make it this one and you will not be disappointed.

Enjoyed reading this. It alternated between sad (thought-provoking) and hopeful pieces. It's a good book on recent social issues. Super.
