Broken Wide Open: A Sand and Sunset Novel - Stand-alone Romance Kindle Edition
At four years old, Grace Davidson lost her father in a bizarre accident, so unsettling that her mother never liked to talk about it. Her father had been her rock, her hero, her everything. Now, years later, she's all grown up and has married her new hero, until she discovers his betrayal with her best friend. As revenge, Grace takes off, alone, for the honeymoon she was supposed to have with her now, ex-husband...
To an exotic resort, miles from home...
Leo D'Amoré was just a man Grace met while enjoying a little un-honeymoon retaliation against her husband of all of three hours. They became friends. No last names, no promises, commitments, or ties. Yet even after she returns home, she can't get him out of her head. Too bad she'll never see him again. Starting over in a new town after finding her dream job, Grace suddenly runs into Leo in the last place she expects. But is he the man she believes him to be? She thought so, until everything becomes broken wide open. Including her heart.

About the author

Susan writes paranormal and contemporary romance—steamy and sexy are the way they usually turn out. She's a huge fan of superheroes and bad boys confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers, and abilities beyond the norm mixed with hot, blow-your-socks-off romance.
She grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania doing a lot of daydreaming. It’s no big surprise that she writes romance stories since many nights as a child, she would lay awake fantasizing about her knight in shining armor.
Her wild imagination sparked her first story at the age of twelve; a story that her sixth-grade teacher adopted for the class play that year. Having never achieved fame and fortune for that play, she attempted life the normal way with other activities, such as, working as a food lab technician, bartender, cell phone repair technician, and mom.
Now she lives in Northern California, where she still spends a lot of time daydreaming. She loves to drink wine, and fortunately, there are several local wineries close by. Together, she and her modern-day knight have five great superhero kids, ten mini-superhero grandkids, six grandpups, and a too-intelligent border collie named Xena Warrior Princess, who has stolen her heart and keeps her very active.
When she's not writing, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, wine tasting, dancing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and throwing a green ball for that very smart border collie.

- Reviewed in Canada on May 26, 2017Fate was a really big part of this story. First Grace is cheated on shortly after the alter on her wedding day, then she meets Leo in an exotic location. They gained a friendship. Then to be brought together under the hotel. Leo's tragic past that links to Grace and then have it all come full circle that Leo was freed, Grace returned and their love restored, their hearts pulled back together.
It's an incredibly sweet, erotic story with some twists, really testing the human psyche.
I think they're a beautiful couple.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 29, 2017When the blurb tells you that this is a roller coaster of emotions they were not lying. The characters are well written which is a very good thing because they have one heck of a story to tell. Grace has just hhad he life basically fall apart, hence the title Broken Wide Open. Add to that another character who is just as messed up and damaged as she is and you have Leo. Both the same yet different. Both hurt yet still functioning. Through the book and all the emotions you basically end up learning what a true family is. I liked this book and it does make you feel many emotions.

5.0 out of 5 stars As the story continues you feel like you are going to continue on with a predictable ...
Verified PurchaseThis standalone is anything but broken. Right from the beginning you are pulled right into the story. Grace is a strong woman that experienced true heartbreak. She goes to Bora Bora alone trying to get herself together. She meets Leo in Bora Bora. Fireworks are exploding but things don’t go the way you would expect. Then back to reality. Grace is getting back on her feet after the wedding that never should have happened. Grace runs into Leo and the tension is palpable. There is always something in the background that is trying to keep them apart, but the attraction is incredible. As the story continues you feel like you are going to continue on with a predictable happily ever after. But then you are hit unexpectedly with a twist. When this happened it clenched my heart. The raw emotion that you take from these characters is moving. Then I started questioning whether the outcome of this story was going to be what I wanted. It was anything but predictable and is an absolute must read. The spin is perfectly flawed. It’s exactly what you need for an incredible ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Broken Wide Open by Susan Griscom
Verified PurchaseWhen Susan said she was writing a dystopian romance I wasn't sure if i would like it - well - I loved it and I think you will too.To give up on love, to be too broken to consider it even - then a small hope that maybe you can be whole but that gets extinguished too. What else can happen to two people. Are they meant to be together or not? You will have to read this book to follow all the lovely twists and turns to find out what can really happen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable
Verified PurchaseThis was a quick, easy read, and hit the mark. While it started out relatively simple, and I wasn't sure whether I wanted to continue, I'm glad I did. Grace and Leo's story picked up and was quite enjoyable. There were some surprises that I hadn't anticipated, and that I really liked.
I'll certainly be on the lookout for more books by Susan Griscom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!
Verified PurchaseI really enjoyed this book, it was very emotional at times. Leo had a major trauma in his past that Grace (unknown to them) was linked to. There were a couple of great twists towards the end of the story! It had me hooked from start to finish and I did shed a few tears at the emotional scenes! I adored them as a couple though and had my fingers crossed for them the whole time!
