I don't know a coach who hasn't struggled with parents. Most choose to ignore the problem and shut parents out, which inevitably exacerbates the situation and often pits coach and parent as adversaries. Coaches ignore the parents to avoid conflict, while parents harness their anger in ways that can be destructive to their athlete son / daughter, which often has a negative affect on team culture.

Through thoughtful examples, JP reminds us of the bond between parent and child and provides effective strategies to earn their support, turning potential adversaries into true partners, in the emotionally charged world of competitive athletics.

JP provides real and practical strategies, which serve to engage parents and create a constructive, accountable, and supportive environment, which ultimately best serves the athlete and the team.

You'll want to read the book with a notepad and a highlighter. You'll be taking lots of notes to bring with you to your team...

Whilst it may seem targeted at coaches, The Sport Parent Solution has first hand examples of working with parents that are applicable for not just coaches at all levels, but sports administrators, managers and business leaders. Any organisation that deals with parents on a daily level should read this book.

A well thought out progression from The Culture System, where JP builds on frameworks and outlines to provide practical examples from real life situations, which take you from shock and awe to a place of inspiration and encouragement.

Written for coaches, but it is a great reminder of parents role in helping to make a child's athletic experience a transformative part of his/her life. Compelling coaching stories are interwoven with practical strategies for encouraging parents to be actively involved in supporting the team goals. Any parent would benefit from reading and assimilating the ideas in this book and could engage in promoting and supporting the coach and the entire team experience. Highly recommend this short, concise, easy read for coaches to share with their assistant coaches, AD, administration, and parents of their athletes.
