    As a regular member of the Monday evening prayer meeting in my local Baptist Church, I bought this book because I was fascinated by it's title,
    'Only a prayer meeting'.
    Ironically, during yesterday's preaching service, we heard how Spurgeon had given over twenty eight sermons on consequtive Sundays on the verse:
    'You must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven'.
    Charles Spurgeon was one of the great giants of the Christian church, and all his works are indeed highly recommended.

    As I have tried to lead our church to be a praying church, I have looked for books that both informed and challenged me as pastor.

    I was both informed and challenged as I read Spurgeon's chapters on messages he gave to his congregation when they came to prayer time. His emphasis was to lead people to open their hearts before the Lord God in a humble attitude.

    As you look at his comments in his messages, you see how people a hundred years ago are so much like modern people today.

    The request of the disciples to Jesus was "teach us to pray." People of all ages need to be taught to pray in every generation.

    Only A Prayer Meeting was helpful in teaching me how to pray more biblically and in turn to teach others to pray more effectively.

    One story tempt of Satan. All of us have difficult to def the tempt because of flesh. Pray ask God to help us beat the tempt that great pray that all of us need. Good book lot of sermons and talk about events there.
