Cold Water Poems
On a Sunday morning in January of 2022 I started my cold water adventure by writing a poem. What started as a prompt sparked a new way of experiencing nature and my body. I invite you to read about my cold water adventures and maybe inspire you to find your own.
The foreign element of water has been most welcoming to me. I will donate all royalties for Cold Water Poems and Warm Water Poems to the International Rescue Committee.
Mirjam Mahler

Cold Water Poems, published in January of 2024, was her first individual collection, Warm Water Poems followed in September of 2024.
Mirjam is co-editor of Facing Goodbye - a poetry anthology for The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press and volunteers for The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press and Consilience Journal.

- Reseñado en España el 27 de febrero de 2024Mirjam Mahler's "Cold Water Poems" is a collection of poems and photographs that invites the reader to join her on an adventure of cold water swimming. She describes her experiences with honesty and bravery, and encourages the reader to dip their toe into their own adventure. Mirjam uses a variety of forms with great skill and weaves nature and the human experience together throughout her collection. What started as an adventure for Mirjam, emerged into a new way of experiencing the natural world and her body. This fantastic debut collection is a must-read. It is a beautiful reminder of the benefits of emersing ourselves in water, reconnecting with our natural ebb and flow, letting go and slowing down. Congratulations, Mirjam!

5,0 de 5 estrellas You’ll want to go in after reading this
Poet Miriam Mahler shares not only her practice of cold water bathing, but lyrical poems and photos that feel like a beautiful embrace of her cold water. I find myself wanting to try this experience of plunging or even swimming in cold water because of how she has written about it! Truly a lovely book with a mix of poetry styles. Very inviting. Thank you Mirjam!

5,0 de 5 estrellas More than poetry
Mirjam's first book is a poetic lesson on what can be achieved through challenging one's self to find the courage to try new experiences. Her prose, pictures and poems are beautifully assembled and provide not only insight into such an immersive experience but also, subtly, demonstrates how haiku and poems can be developed from prose.
It is a sweet book worthy of space on any bookshelf. As her first publication, Mirjam has sent a lovely offering of stillness, humour and surprise into an often jarring world.

5,0 de 5 estrellas Cold water poems for the heart
I have been curious about what the big deal is with ice-bathing, about being in cold water in the midst of winter, and this book of poems doesn’t disappoint! It explores that feeling through various poetry forms, stories and beautifully refreshing nature photographies. Loved reading it!

Reading this book during my morning ritual felt like I was right there with writer Mirjam Mahler. Her curation of words to depict her cold water adventures is admirable. If you are curious about ice bathing, love poetry but this book.
