The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius: New Modern Edition (Classics on War and Politics Book 4) Kindle Edition
Sorry, there was a problem loading this page.Try again.
Marcus Aurelius was the Emperor of Rome from 161 to 180 CE, and is considered the last of the Five Good Emperors. He was a Stoic Philosopher and his work "The Meditations" (literally, "things to one's self") is a set of private notes and thoughts. While never meant for publication, it is considered to be one of the greatest extant works of stoic philosophy. Each translation of The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius has taken some liberties. Words are added and some removed in order to better reach meaning and understanding. This latest translation and New Modern Edition is meant to restore some of these missing elements, and provide a clear and accurate presentation of this great classic in English.

Verified PurchaseI am reading this deliberately slowly. I do wish Amazon would take the pressure off me having to review books that I haven't yet finished or are gifted for others or are simply in my list of books to read later. I wouldn't mind, but I regularly review the books I do read on Audible, Goodreads, Twitter and Facebook - but that's when I've actually read them, not beforehand. This review is just to stop the pestering emails
