    Love this book series. Michael Carrol is a fantastic and creative author. He manages to make superheroes fun and unique!

    This novel picks up where the last volume in the New Heroes / Quantum Prophecy series ended. Absolute Power (The New Heroes, Book 3) told the story of the 'Trutopian War,' and now we see the teen superheroes helping people deal with the aftermath. And this time they're joined by a new super human - Kenya Cho, an ex-Trutopian with a need to atone for what was done during the war.

    Razor returns, building flying armour for our heroes, and an older - and wiser - Lance McKendrick (last seen in Hunter (The New Heroes/Quantum Prophecy series)) is on hand to lead the team as they face a new threat from an old enemy.

    One of the difficulties with superheroes - especially in a long-running series - is coming up with a villain who can provide strong enough opposition for the hero. Michael Carroll comes up with a new twist on an old comic book idea this time - no spoilers from me! - that has Colin and his team facing the most formidable foes they've ever come up against.

    Lance also finds himself trying to out-think the smartest villain who ever lived, so the good guys face overwhelming odds on all fronts. And the super-villain here doesn't just want to take over the world, he wants to wipe it clean and start over again - and even this plan... But no, to say any more would spoil the story. There are twists and turns aplenty - the author is sneakier than Lance and his enemy combined - and you'll just have to read it yourself to discover whether our planet finished up awash with burning lava...

    Amazing book! Michael Carroll knows how to write superheroes. Personally, I prefered Hunter over Crossfire, but nonetheless Crossfire was a solid novel!

    It was a good book overall. I give it 4 stars only because the ending was so predictable. I'd rather have checked it out from the library if it was available.
