The Crook in the Lot: The Sovereignty and Wisdom of God in the Afflictions of Men by Thomas Boston is one of the most profound and influential Christian texts ever written. First published in the early 18th century, this timeless work explores the deep and often challenging themes of divine sovereignty, human suffering, and the mysterious ways in which God works in the lives of His people.
Boston, a revered Scottish theologian, masterfully addresses the "crook in the lot"—the trials and tribulations that each person inevitably faces. With pastoral sensitivity and theological depth, he provides readers with comforting and practical insights into how to understand and endure life's adversities while maintaining faith in God's sovereign will.
This version has been meticulously re-formatted and updated for modern readers, ensuring that Boston's profound teachings are accessible and relevant to contemporary audiences. The language has been carefully modernized without losing the rich theological depth and eloquence of the original text, allowing readers to fully grasp the timeless wisdom contained within its pages.
Through thoughtful exposition of Scripture and pastoral guidance, Boston leads readers on a journey towards greater understanding and acceptance of God's providence. He emphasizes the importance of humility, faith, and patience in the face of suffering, assuring believers of the ultimate lifting up that comes from God’s perfect timing and wisdom.
The Crook in the Lot is a biblically saturated source of spiritual comfort and strength. It speaks to those who are in the midst of trials, offering hope and assurance that every affliction is under the sovereign control of a wise and loving God.
Discover the enduring wisdom of Thomas Boston and find solace in the truth that, amidst all adversities, God’s sovereignty and wisdom prevail.

5つ星のうち5.0 Excellent
フォーマット: Kindle版 (電子書籍)Amazonで購入Has done me much good and made me more patient in my afflictions waiting upon Christ for the time of lifting up. I recommend this book to Christians despairing with their suffering lot in this life. Boston truly is a comforter to the Lord’s poor ones. It’s just what I needed. Praise the Lord for this good servant.

5つ星のうち3.0 The font is too narrow!
Amazonで購入The book is in mint condition, the cover and pages of excellent quality. But when you open the book, the font is much too narrow and thin. It was hard on the eyes. They probably did this to compress the text and reduce the number of pages. I gave it away to my church library, but who will read it? Better for the font to be normal width and the thickness regular or medium. A more legible font, like Roboto, Garamond, Georgia, or Merriweather, would be much better.

5つ星のうち5.0 Could be a life-changer.
Amazonで購入Although it's not an easy read due to the old English used, it is well worth the time and effort it takes to complete. Wish I had read it earlier in life and fully grasped these truths. There would have been less "kicking against the goads" and more acceptance of my circumstances and therefore more obedience and contentment. I bought the Kindle edition but I recommend the book since it includes the forward by J.I.Packer which is GREAT and is not in the Kindle version that I bought.
