This book saved me! As a first-year law school student, I knew I was going to have to devote a lot of time and effort to revamping my resume, LinkedIn profile, and cover letter second semester to find a good job or internship for the summer. I'm so lucky I found this guide/templates! And literally right before I started my search! (Definitely meant to be!)
For the past couple of years, I've spent so much time working on the perfect resume; tweaking things here and there to get it just right. But regardless of how much effort I put into making mine personal and unique, I literally never seemed to get interviews. It was so **frustrating**! This book has really opened my eyes. had no idea that there were resume "trends" and that employers are really particular about them. In fact, thanks to this book, I learned that I was doing a lot of the exact things that you are not supposed to do on a resume: I had a picture, cute format, references, mission statement, etc. Ugh! (How embarrassing!)
Anyway, I was seriously considering hiring someone to create my resume for me, because this summer job/internship is so important. With my previous resume, I was getting no interviews and felt like I must be doing something wrong. You definitely don't have to hire someone to write your resume! Writing the perfect resume is so much easier (and more important) than you think. Not only are there very detailed tips and descriptions about what topics you should cover on your resume and cover letter, there are also multiple templates for each that you can use to create your own. Everything is literally already done, you just have to put in your information and save the document. This book is such a relief. If you are applying for jobs and never seem to get interviews, it could be because you're doing something wrong and don't even realize it. I highly recommend checking out this book if you're in that boat. You have literally nothing to lose. Good luck on your job search!
