I hesitate to say that his book is a hidden gem because it's a word that is used by AI a lot and has become so over used it's lost it's meaning. Knowing that I'll still use the words to describe this book because it's a gem and one that many don't know about so it's hidden or out of the radar (lets hope for not too long). The insights in here are not the traditional self help or development advice you hear from the big influencers and gurus and that's because it comes from the personal experience of a person who's gone through a lot and it's not just insights from his experience but the amont of time he's also spent studying and learning about the intricacies of human psychology and behavior and this combination is rare.
Because of that Helmut understands the challenges of being human and what's really holding us back, better than most. 99% coaches and expert default to beliefs and will say it's your beliefs and habits that hold you back but anyone who's done their inner work knows it's much more than that, so much more. There are so many things that affect our experience like our relationship with our mother, our issues with our father, birth order, our gender, race and the place we live in with that race, religious trauma, sexual orientation, and so much more. Every time we think about doing something all of these things leach into the thought and asipration and dictate if we'll do it, to what extent and how successful we'll come out the other side.
All of this matters but doesn't get enough attention if at all and if it does not in one place. You might hear about the effects of gender in a book dedicated to that or mommy issues in therapy but not all in one place. So not only does Helmut understand how important all these factors of the human experience are but he brings and discusses them in one book. Now you see why I say it's a hidden gem because he's opening conversation about a lot of things people are not talking about that are core to our experience well-being and success.
The book goes beyond the book because the end of every chapter Helmut has llinks to special videos to review and exercises to do which take the information beyond reading to actual experience, something you dont see many authors do. There's a lot of intention in this book it leans heavy on the side of love a part of personal development that makes me tune out but outside of that I'm glad I took a chance on it
