Purchase options and add-ons
“I'm supposed to be the one that calls him back toward the Light. ' I am the Light to your Dark. You call to me as I call to you. I will always hold you dear.' But it was getting harder. I loved him and it's not as if I never knew it would be difficult loving a vampire. I just never knew the degree of difficulty it would entail."
Michel battles his rising Dark, all but losing his Light within. His line falters, his life is in turmoil and Lucinda is ultimately shut out.
Without his kindred to draw him back to the Light, just how Dark will Michel become? And can Lucinda survive without him in her life?
To bring him back towards the Light they both must face harsh truths and their deepest secrets and desires. But a vampire's number one rule is survive at all costs.
Just what will Michel do to survive and how will it affect Lucinda?
An ancient vampire appears in London feasting on innocents with abandon. Lucinda's role as the Sanguis Vitam Cupitor calls her to the streets of Knightsbridge and into the grasp of this powerful and hungry Dark predator. Calling on all her reserves she is barely able to survive with her life, but fails to save those humans he blithely kills.
Guilt wages with fear as she realises this is not a one-time event and attempts to discover the meaning behind his appearance and Dark hunger which cannot be assuaged.
In the shadows left by the Dark vampire lurks a strange new threat. Dressed in the guise of a mischievous, gorgeous and compelling young man who catches Lucinda in a spell which could not possibly be of this Earth. It's not just his beauty that traps Lucinda though, it's the fact that he has Light. A Light so similar to her own that she is drawn to it, can't stop herself reaching for it.
But she ultimately knows, to touch it could prove her downfall. But can she resist?
The world is turning Darker, greater threats than vampires are about to appear and Lucinda is the key. Try as she might, without her kindred by her side her chances of success are dimmed.
For together they are stronger, apart they grow weak.
And there are always those on the sidelines who are willing to take advantage of the weak. They are vampyre, it is in their nature to hunt prey and Lucinda is the ultimate game for the predator within.

About the author

A bit of a romance junkie, Nicola can be known to devour as many as half a dozen books a week if she drinks too much coffee. But her real passion is writing thrilling romantic suspense stories with strong female leads and alpha male protagonists who know how to love them.
So far, she’s written well over 70 books. She might have caught the writing bug; here’s hoping there’s no cure!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 August 2013Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI got the first book of this series because it was free. I have purchased the rest as they are all wonderful and carry on immediately from the previous book. Yes, there is some repetition summarising what has happened so far but only in the 2nd book is it truly obvious and annoying. Either the author puts less and less in as the books go on or she got better and spreading it out so it doesn't feel so in your face.
The story is not only about vampires (nosferatu), vampire hunters (nosferatin) and their intricate relationship but a book about self-discovery, love, conflict and more.
The books are beautifully written (even though there are some minor spelling errors and misuse of they're, there, their type words), easy to read and difficult to put down.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 July 2015Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseSo lost on this series of books. Download them all for your holidays and sit by the pool or at the beach engrossed in the fast paced story telling. These books are awesome and drag you along for the ride with emotions switching with every chapter.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 May 2014Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI'm really enjoying this series - good storyline and characters - but am getting increasingly frustrated by the basic errors. If you're going to make such a big fuss about Michel being French, please find a French speaker to proofread for you - there are some absolute howlers throughout the series. Prophecy, not Prophesy - you need the noun, not the verb. Picky, yes, but I'm finding it quite offputting.

5.0 out of 5 stars things would get better between then
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis picks up some weeks later after Lucinda has given her all to Michel and given him her mark. You would think after that, things would get better between then. Not so… We find that things have changed between the two of them, to the fact that Michel has even moved out. And Lucinda can’t understand why he has pulled away from her the way he has. So she reaches out to the one person that she can truly trust and someone that she can confine in. No other person than Anise. She helps Lucinda out on what she needs to do in order to get her kindred back. And oh boy, it works.
But we get to see and understand the whole reason why Michel has pulled back from not only Lucinda but also his line. And that challenge was amazing! I love how Nicole just creates these scenes and it seems like you are right there in the midst experiencing everything. I’m also really enjoying how Michel and Lucinda’s relationship is growing. Even thought Michel is going through some dark patches, Lucinda still seems to get through to him and continue to bring light.
We get introduced to Lutin who is supposed to be the prince Light Fey and he claims that Lucinda is his. I am so tired of every guy she comes in contact with; they are saying that she belongs to them. I hate love triangles and I hope this is one that will not flourish. And Michel is also getting tired of everyone trying to take his kindred from him. He even expresses that much to Lucinda.
And then there is Avery. I don’t know about this guy. It’s so many questions that I have unanswered about him. He seems to have his own agenda. And I’m afraid that with this ending, we are not going to know until the next installment. And with that ending, I’m hoping that Nicole has some change of events. We need some Michel D. in our life. And that’s all I’m going to say on that!
Until Next Time, Happy Reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars a marvelous continuation
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis is the 5 th book in a series called "Kindred " which deserves not less than a 5 star rating. It is the continues story of a intriguing new vampire world which differs in many forms from other available books in this genre.
I don 't want to get into the story line to keep each reader open minded, but all 5 books build on each other and I would suggest to read up first before starting book 5.
Nicola Claire, the new author of this series, is able to pull her readers in within the first pages and never lets them go until the last page is turned. She combines unique characters with even more unique abilities, that the thought -boring or I need a break from this - never even can be formed less than done.
The story is unpredictable and the author throws more than once a curveball at her readers. But that makes a good writer - keep up the suspension, have the reader on his /her toes and beg for more when done.
I enjoyed this book immensely and I can highly recommend the entire series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit frustrating...
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseAlthough this book frustrates me to no end. I still loved it. Some of it is good frustration. The kind that gets you involved in the book and the events that take place. Then there is the bad frustration when I can't understand what happened to all of Lucinda's growth from the last book? At some points it's as if she has learned nothing and has to suffer the consequences all over again. Thankfully new characters and situations are introduced that take away some of the frustration. I am also not thrilled that someone wants Lucinda in each book. Even though she is presented to the reader in all 5 books as a strong sassy heroine, she is presented as a damsel in distress as well. When she really needs to be strong, she is weak. When she can take a step back, she won't. Again, what has she learned from previous situations?
However, somehow the book is still very good. I accidentally read a huge spoiler but still enjoyed the journey. I hope I get to see some actual growth that can be applied in the next book. I recommend to adult paranormal romantic adventure lovers, but you must start with the first book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome read!!!
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI am in love with this series! It is 8 books long but I can't help but want to blast thru them to see how it all works out. The author does a great job of making each book unique but still tying them to each other without being repetitive. Each book had me biting my nails with the conflicts but at the same time completely feeling emotional for the characters. I loved characters and wanted to hurt other ones. I really had a good time with this series!
