"You do realise," he whispered, his hand reaching up to brush my hair from my face. He began twining a strand around one of his fingers. "That you are my most magnificent obsession." Magnificent obsession. I think I liked that. I certainly understood it. He was mine too."

Confronted with yet another curve ball, Lucinda finds herself in Álfheimr at the mercy of the Dökkálfa. And the Fey have unusual rules, rules which even the Dark Fairies like to stretch.

Throwing herself into the political machinations of her hosts, Lucinda must negotiate her release.

But what could the Dökkálfa monarch want that would mean Lucinda's freedom?

Never one to have the patience for politics, Lucinda must adapt to new environments and new challenges, not just from the Fairies, but from all sides now. An old enemy rises to do more harm than good, forcing Lucinda to confront depths of loss she thought long buried.

Struggling with her physical well-being, battling a political world that is now her home, and working against a powerful, devious and underhand enemy, Lucinda must draw on all her Light to succeed.

However she is not alone. She is watched over by the spirit of a dragon.

But everyone knows, the kiss of the dragon is as lethal as its flame.

Product description

About the Author

Nicola Claire lives in beautiful Taupo, New Zealand with her husband and two young boys. She's tried her hand at being a paramedic, bank teller and medical sales representative, (not all necessarily in that order), but her love of writing keeps calling her back. She has a passion for all things supernatural, spiced up with a good dollop of romance - as long as they include strong characters, alpha males and capable females, and worlds which although make-believe are really quite believable in the end. There's nothing better than getting caught up in a compelling, intriguing and romantic book. When she's not writing or reading, she's out on her family boat at Lake Taupo, teaching her young boys to fish, showing them the beauty that surrounds them in nature and catching some delicious trout for dinner. Kindred has been a joy to write, creating a rich world with dynamic characters and paranormal twists that shock and awe has been pure bliss for this author. And just as well, because there's a lot more story yet to tell...

What can I say about this series but they have continually surprised enthralled me etc etc just when I think I know what's going to happen next I find I'm totally wrong and the plot gets better and better the twist and turns are incredible I find I'm holding my breathing thinking it can't be happening then cheering the charitors are brilliant intresting you find yourself besides them so drawn into the book the imagination of Nicola Claire it's like she knows the charitors really exist all your childhood stories in adult form I cannot recommend this series too highly I thought Harry Potter was amazing but this series eclipses them if you thought The twilight series is the best vampire romance you are sadly wrong being with a vampire doesn't mean you have to become one read the Kindred Series there's Vampires, love, fairies, and human vampire killers a totally different slant on vampire and half human joining

My usual type of books to read are crime or anything written by Nora Roberts but I got one of these kindred books free on my kindle and I started reading and just couldn't put it down! I then had too get all the other.books in the series it was that good. I now am looking into anything else she has written as I enjoyed her books so
much,I would recommend this series to everyone.

Loved the story, loved the characters in all the books. A different take on a familiar story and in my opinion this series is one of the best. A little too much of the sex which was a bit boring after a while, although it did not distract from how very good the story is. I highly recommend! Sad to see it end.

The previous book 'Entwined with the Dark' ended as expected and this one picks up where it finished, the portals are closing and Lucinda finds herself isolated in Alfheimr and desperate to reconnect with her kindred.
In this book the Iunctio is under serious threat and Michel as Champion is battling for his life and his future, Lucinda is ill and no one seems to have any idea what's wrong with her.
Having loved the previous book I couldn't wait to start this one and it didn't disappoint, at least at first.
I was completely gripped and just couldn't read fast enough but then it all became a bit well annoying.
It seemed so much shorter than the previous ones but I think it was just that there was a lot more sex in this one.
Since I don't want to spoil this for anyone I'll put my issues under a spoiler at the end so don't read if you've not read the book.
It's been a bit of a bumpy ride for me, I liked the first book but Lucinda soon started to drive me nuts and I seriously considered not reading the third but the friend who recommended this series convinced me to carry on and I was so glad I did, books 6 and 7 were excellent.
I'm going to read book 8.5 'Dreaming of a Blood Red Christmas' after I've finished this review and then I'm done while overall I've enjoyed this series I won't take on another one by this author, Lucinda annoyed me far too much and spoilt all the early books, there's a lot of repetition in all of them, far too much if I'm being honest and while I really enjoyed some of these books they were very predictable, I'm not sure if it was a result of me reading all 8 books in just 9 days but I found it way too easy to predict what would happen.

    ###### SPOILERS #######

Did anyone really not know what was wrong with Lucinda, we were basically told in the previous book, the only surprising thing is that under the circumstances I expected her to get stronger and therefore be in a position to protect not be weak and almost incapacitated.
Due to this and the fact the result of the battle was a foregone conclusion the second half of this book really dragged and I felt ultimately disappointed.

Loved the storyline I guessed what was happening to Luce, but still enjoyed the ending. I didn't want it to end.
Hope Nicola Claire writes a little bit more of Michel and Luce's story.
    Love it, Love it !!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooked
Reviewed in the United States on 30 September 2013
A week after finishing the Kindred series it's still with me. I'm hooked. This review is for the entire series.

I'd rate the first book slightly lower purely because in the first person it was more difficult to get to know Michel, but the rest of the series is 5 star all the way. I'm totally impressed that the author could maintain such a high standard through this number of full length novels.

It is a gripping roller coaster of a journey, heartbreaking at times. Sacrifices made by several characters had me in tears on more than one occasion. Samson - I sobbed - I hope things work out with him and Georgia. The characters developed and matured in the most satisfying way. I loved Michel's vulnerability as well as his strength and it was nice to get his viewpoint in the bonus chapters at the end. He's right up there in my top 3 heroes of all time. I liked Lucinda as well. Although once or twice I wanted to shake her I could understand what was motivating her actions and believed the sincerity of them. In the end I felt they were truly worthy of each other.

A very satisfying ending but gosh I'd like to read more.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!!!
Reviewed in the United States on 1 September 2013
This series was wonderful. There was true character evolution and really HOT vampires. The heroine was strong, but not so strong that she didn't need her kindred. It is rare that an author can balance strength and vulnerability in a way that is credible and makes sense. The vampire was dominant yet yielding when it came down to meeting his kindred needs. There are some episodes of expressions of love that I have found to be unmatched in the vampire literature. Believe me I read a lot. It is kind of an obsession. I loved that way this ended, but I would love for the author to continue this series. I would love to see Lucinda being challenged with jealousy from another women. Maybe someone special from Michel past? Miss Claire well done. This is officially my vampire series.

I rarely ever write reviews for Kindle reads, but I felt compelled to praise Nicola Claire's Kindred series. I am an avid reader of paranormal romance, and this series is, by far, one of the best I've ever read. I fell in love with her charactes, and I commend Claire for her ability to make the reader feel for her characters (one of my pet peeves for any good read). I absolutely adored this series and would reccommed it to anyone up for a long, action packed, paranormal romance series. Although Claire's conclusion the the Kindred series had me aggravated to no end, I still felt it was a poetic conclusion to Lucinda's story. This series will always be in my top ten best paranormal romance novels ever read.
