Andrew Bull is on a mission to help people (especially teams) defy gravity and elevate their performance in business and life. Known as the Interstellar Strategist, Bull is adept at identifying ways to elevate team and business performance. Whether on his podcasts or speaking at live events, Bull inspires people to have courage, own their future, and take action.

Bull started his career in the UK film industry, where he helped the biggest leaders realise their visions for exciting film and advertising projects (including Harry Potter, Moulin Rouge, 300, Sony, Volvo, Philips).

After 18 years of working in the film business, Andrew found himself at a crossroads. Whilst he was materially satisfied, and the work was interesting (travelling the world and meeting different people), he lacked time and freedom for loved ones and hobbies.

So in 2016, Bull started his business so he could “own his future” and achieve a better work/life balance. Whilst growing his business, Bull has made plenty of mistakes and suffered brutal lessons. And although he found these lessons hard to suffer in the short-term, in the long-term he’s found them incredibly valuable. They’ve helped Bull grow and elevate his performance. They’ve helped him become a better coach, a better father, and a better person.

These lessons also helped Bull discover the truth about a big question: What really drives business performance? The team. If the team isn’t performing at the right level, a business can have the best marketing/sales/product in the world and still struggle to achieve its goals. Even worse, when a team is underperforming, the leader and team have to work more and stress more. And they get sucked into business black holes that consume their time and freedom.

Bull wasn’t happy with this situation and did something about it. He created InterstellarWay.Life, a coaching solution that helps leaders and their teams defy gravity and elevate performance in business and life.

InterstellarWay.Life offers workshops and team accelerators that help teams overcome the challenges of our Brave New World.

In 2022 published Andrew Bull published his first book called Monsters of Team Performance. A book that gives leaders a fast way to elevate their team’s motivation, culture, teamwork, innovation, and wellbeing.

Bull is also the host of the popular and highly-rated podcast, the Interstellar Business Show, where he connects technology leaders (CEOs, executives) with the best business ideas and leadership stories. When he’s not busy helping leaders elevate their teams, Bull loves spending time with his family and friends.

As I was reading through this I could see direct parallels of my former workplace's incompetencies. Like most workplace stories go, I started at a workplace that I found to be very engaging and fun. I liked the clients there in particular. However, over time I began to see the company for what it really was, and how little the managers higher than me cared about solving the problems of the workplace, which Andrew Bull describes as the monsters. In the end, these workplace monsters thrived more and more due to the neglect of my team's leaders. It affected my life and I was never rewarding for the extra miles I went, or the extra time I spent.Looking back and reflecting on the toxicity of the workplace in hindsight while reading this book, I began to see very clearly how my team's leaders failed to create a culture and environment that had long-lasting happiness. I continue to think that in the short term, the mid term and the long term, that team will continue to decline and ultimately come crumbling down; which was evident even at the time. While I just wrote about my former workplace, I really just wrote from the perspective as an employee. And now I am equipped with valuable knowledge to prepare me for running my own teams; and in any cases in which I merely participate as an employee rather than an employer. If your boss doesn't take books like this seriously, your boss will not take you seriously, and your boss will not take their workplace or business seriously.

This book is a great addition to your library if you are a people leader (or offer guidance and support to other teams such as HR personnel). This book helps you understand the basics of what high performance truly means and how to foster that environment.

This book offers a variety of advice, data, thought provoking questions and examples and truly dives into the what, why and how of high performance.

I like how this book doesn’t just measure high performance as money that teams bring in. It focuses on team wellbeing, happiness and engagement which then fosters into higher performance.

If you are an ‘old school’ manager who only see their team as numbers and just cares about output, this one isn’t for you. If you are a manager who cares about your teams wellbeing, culture, taking a nurturing approach and treating people like people, and understand happy people are the most productive, engaged and motivated, you will gain a lot from this book.

I can’t recommend this book enough.

This is a brilliant resource for leaders looking to understand their culture (and micro cultures), make improvements and increase employee performance. Its written in a way that is engaging, simple to understand and enables practical application. A must read for leaders looking to break out from the hamster wheel and move forward into the future.
    Great job Andrew!

This book captures the causes of dysfunction that are present to some degree in every organisation, and draws together useful advice for all kinds of situation. The monsters concept keeps things engaging - and easy to skim - without being patronising. You'll have heard some of the advice before if you've been sent on a business or management course, but as a refresher - and as a reference for what you do when you observe things aren't right - this is a great resource. Buy it, dip in when you need it, then lend it to your boss (or to your management team!).

Andrew's book is an easy and accessible read to help you look and understand how your business performs. Highlighting the importance of being truly reflective and honest in your analysis of blockages in performance as opposed to easy solutions.

I've always struggled with managing a team and never considered myself a manager or even a team player before, but going through Andrew's book has helped me see exactly how to get the best out of them. Largely by getting out of their way! Great illustrations and models to share with the team, 100% would recommend even if you're only working with one other person.

I learned a lot of valuable lessons I was blinded to the power and benefit of building an engaging team I used to think that all employees are lazy and I have to keep marketing sure they do their work but was wrong this book taught me how to build self sustaining team that wins individually and collectively. I love chapter myth the shows limiting idea that blaming is protective which is loosing game to play . Highly recommend for leaders managers or even employees to find where you are and even if you are on the right culture.

This was a great leadership book to read. Light enough to make it a quick read, but that is a reflection of the simplicity with which concepts were explained. Drawings and illustrations throughout which makes it a good memory prompt for those who learn well with visuals. I really liked the section on the emoti bomb in action! Glad I read the book and will be taking some of it’s lessons forward.
