About the author

Cardeno C. - CC to friends - is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.
Heartwarming Stories. Strong Relationships. Forever Love.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 January 2013This book is a work of beauty. Some reviews complain about its unrealistic plot - but who reads a book just to compare it to reality! Once I started it, I never wanted to put this book down - i instantly fell in love with the characters and really cared about what happened. THIS is truly a masterpiece.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 March 2015Enjoyable read even though the storyline was a bit improbable. Can understand the "friends with benefits" theme but being over such a long period and with such sexy benefits did stretch it a bit. However it was very well written with good character development. Well worth a read.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 February 2014What a lovely romance. Following the close friendship of two Gay teenagers into adulthood. I found myself just willing them to be together from the get go. Really enjoyed this book. Will definitely be reading more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 February 2013I really enjoyed reading this book about these two characters. I wish it had gone on for longer, I couldn't put it down.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 February 2015Friends with benefits. There was a slow build up with Andrew and Caleb's story as it takes place over a number of years. From the hints we pick up about Andrew's story from the series, I expected it to be far more emotional than it actually was.
Andrew is a highly intelligent man, going to University at a young age. The one constant in his life is his friend Caleb. Caleb is more than just a friend; he is his first everything but timing never seems quite right for them both. Andrew has never had much luck with relationships and always ends up with him being cheated on. Andrew reacts each time by modifying his body with piercings or tattoos. He is not your conventional doctor by any stretch of the imagination.
Caleb, although outgoing, has his own body image problems with thinking he is too fat. Caleb's response is to constantly diet and be as thin as he can.
Both see what the other is doing but only when they recognise their true feelings for the other can they both begin to heal.
This was quite different from the others in the series and it would be very easy to judge rather than empathise with Andrew and Caleb but Carendo C. has got the balance right. It was not the story I was expecting but I still enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 February 2015"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads"
I am an ardent fan of C Cardeno's work, so was delighted to read this series re-edited for 2015. Never have I been disappointed; the story-lines are delightful, the men are scrumptious and the writing is engaging. As you will find as you read through the series, the stories interlink, but each one is perfect on its own too. They give us the long view of these relationships, which is refreshing in the insta-world that has emerged.
Talk about two confused guys who can't see what is right in front of them, year after year. I did at one point want to sit them both down - but at the same time it was wonderful watching it all unfold. I loved the little things we know about them that make it personal and intimate. Once again a clever story that drew me in and forced me to just keep reading late into the night.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Grand Slam - Home Run
Cardeno C's latest in the Home series is phenomenal. This is not your typical friends to lovers story. Andrew & Caleb have been friends since the age of fourteen. They are each other's first for everything. Every year represents a new chapter. Through school and careers they continue with their friends with benefits thing as long as they are not dating others. I love that they are always happy to see each other, they are there for each other in need. No one gets them like they get each other. They seem comfortable with this arrangement, through Caleb's short, casual hook ups and Andrew's atrocious choices in men. When Andrew suffers a tragedy, Caleb is there to love him, prop him up and keep him stable. The path they take is at turns, fun, frustrating & scorching hot! I read it straight through because I genuinely adored these two and I really didn't want to leave them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Friends Who Can't See What Has Been Right In Front of Them All Along
I have been waiting for this story ever since I met Caleb and Andrew in the other books. While it wasn't my favorite book in the series, it was definitely the nice heartwarming read that I've come to expect from this author.
Caleb and Andrew have been best friends since they were fourteen years old. They share all the moments that best friends tend to share together plus a few extras since they were each other's firsts and continued this additional closeness off and on over the years when neither were involved with someone.
But things change after Andrew goes through a tough time and Caleb comes to live with him to help him through it. The dynamics of their relationship changes and neither seems to know what to do about it. But like other books in this series, it takes someone from that wonderful circle of friends to coax them into seeing the truth.
The plot is a journal style as it covers the years from the moment they meet into the present. It switches back and forth between Andrew and Caleb telling the story. I really liked both these characters and their very real friendship. The only thing I had trouble with was that they were so blind to what was right in front of them for so long. And even after they start to figure it out, it takes them some time to speak up. The way they connected on every level including hot and heavy physically had me scratching my head in confusion. It didn't make it a weak or bad plot; it was just frustrating for me because I was vested in these well written characters and wanted them to quit dinking around with other guys and start seeing each other.
It was nice to have cameos from others in the series. I enjoyed that little piece that was put in there that was referenced in Jake and Nate's story when Jake watches over Nate and keeps him from getting hurt at the bar. It's amazing how the author can get these stories to intertwine so well.
Another nice installment in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Wait!!!
What can I say? I love Cardeno C!! Always looking forward to another book and this one was no exception. I loved it!! The series is one of my favorite re-reads. It is fun seeing the characters from different sides and how their lives go around each other. I always wondered about Drew in past books and now I finally know about the body mods..LOL!!
This story was so cute and frustrating all in one. You wanted to strangle both of them. I have to say I have never laughed so hard with how campy they could be. It was great!!! It was great seeing Noah and Clarke, Nate and Jake (well just a little of them), David and Jonathan
I highly recommend this book actually the whole series. You really need to read them in order to understand the characters because as I said the characters revolve around each other. Can't wait until the next book!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars What I liked about this story was the journey of Caleb and ...
What I liked about this story was the journey of Caleb and Andrew, from early teen-agers-awkward in regards to who they were to grown ups learning to deal with all that life handed them. Andrew was super smart and came from a privileged but disfunctional home. Caleb was "stocky" and very persnickety it how he dressed and acted. It was interesting to read how their friendship developed into a touchstone for each of them. I liked that no matter what they were always there for each other-ready and willing to lend a hand or shoulder-or "other" body part :) This was not just a journey to love but a journey of self-discovery......why they were they way they were and why they did the things they did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Friends-to-lovers with a happy ending
This story follows Caleb and Andrew from their early childhood over a period of about 20 years. They are very close friends and are each others 'firsts' (and in some cases 'only's') in everything. They support each other through life's ups and downs, with a lot of the story covering their failed relationships (and in between friends-with-benefits sex) as they look to find love.
It is fairly obvious from the start that they should be looking towards each other. Their own statements back this up. "And I think for some reason, you keep choosing guys who don't deserve you." Caleb managed to turn Andrew around. "Listen to me. I know you." He lifted Andrew's chin, forcing their eyes to meet. "I know you. You are more than enough in every possible way."
I enjoyed the story, although their love was so obvious, the wasted years were quite frustrating to read about. I also struggled to understand Drew's relationship with Drake. The attraction wasn't obvious and his subsequent downward spinal and self-loathing just didn't seem justified.
However, the total romantic in me loved the happy ending!
