A Shot at Forgiveness Kindle Edition
A dozen years, two thousand miles, and a law degree after high school, Rafi Steiner continues to harbor resentment toward Isaac Jones, his childhood bully turned NBA star. When Isaac appears at Rafi's favorite restaurant acting like a long-lost friend, Rafi bluntly dismisses him.
But Isaac is tenacious and he has his heart set on the grown-up version of the boy he always wanted and never forgot. The way Isaac sees it, he and Rafi are perfect for each other, if only he could sink the most important shot of his life: his one shot at forgiveness.

About the author

Cardeno C. - CC to friends - is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.
Heartwarming Stories. Strong Relationships. Forever Love.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 January 2022Cute short story where classmates bump into each other as adults and realise their old memories may have been skewed as they reconnect and make new ones.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 May 2014The characters in this book are what you could call made for each other and you can tell that from the start. They do end up with each other at the end. It is all about how one guy tries to get his guy back a basketball player and his childhood crush. This book however is too short.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 July 2016Cute story. Short and sweet. Nevertheless worth a read.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 April 2018I really enjoy characters with stalker like tendencies. If you love bullies with redeeming qualities, then you'll love this short sweet story. I'm a big fan of this author anyway, I could one click any one of their books and love.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 June 2013The book was an ok read but very short. I liked both Isaac and Rafi but wanted more story development. I will try the author's longer books because I really did enjoy her writing.

C. Cardeno is a one of my favourite authors in this genre, and even if it were 1,000 pages long, I would want more! The writing style is so smooth and free-flowing that a short story really does pass in a moment - but it is a very enjoyable sports based, second chance love story.
This is a really cute, funny and very sexy read. Rafi has not seen his school tormentor for a dozen years, but it turns out that he maybe didn't have the story quite right ... Can Isaac show him, and straighten out the story? He is most definitely persistent! Amazing how much can be packed into a short story - including plenty of hot, delicious intimacies!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 February 2015Loved how the author executed this storyline. It's a funny thing how our memory can play tricks on us over the years, we form a mental memory of how, what and when and stick to it. Then out of the blue, someone reminisces about the younger years and we see that maybe, just maybe, we might have got it wrong and this is what this storyline is about. Isaac made Rafi's younger years a misery. Years later on a chance meeting (maybe, maybe not) they meet again. Did Rafi misunderstand Isaac all those years ago? Has he changed? They say it's a fine balance between love and hate and it was "hate" all those years ago, wasn't it? Read and find out, you won't be disappointed.

I LOVE Cardeno C, absolutely adore the work that is produced, I just wish they were longer! 70 pages is not enough for me!
After 12 years, Rafi comes face to face with his high school bully, Isaac. Rafi wants nothing to do with Isaac, but his is stubborn in his pursuit of Rafi. All is not as it seemed to be in high school though, and a heart to heart makes Rafi see all the things he never saw before, not that Isaac was a bully, but Isaac did many kinder things to Rafi than he remembered.
This little book is an hour reading time (for me anyway) of deliciousness, sweetness, sexiness and all sorts of other things, all rolled into a jam packed 70 pages.
I just want more. I ALWAYS want more, I know, but we only get Rafi, no Isaac! Nothing at all, so that, and the fact it is so short, is why it gets 4.5 stars and not 5. I'm sorry, but I gotta stick to my guns on this one. Like I said, I always want more, and more is POV from both (all, even) main characters.
I loved the about face that Rafi does, after Isaac talks to him, really talks to him, about what he remembers from high school, and I loved that Isaac sort of moves himself in while he is in town.
so, 4.5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Really great 🥰
Sometimes you don't need a book with 300 pages to find the story sweet and great !
Sometimes you have two characters full of love, emotions and a little bit of craziness !
This is what Isaac and Rafi are for me !
Thank you so much for this great story!

4.0 out of 5 stars Enemies to Lovers
It's a super fast love story with racy erotica and good humour. Rafi is getting together with Isaac, his high school bully who turns out to be an NBA MVP. Isaac is the possessive, jealous type and is seen growling at rivals. The sexy scenes are pretty hot and it's a good read altogether. But I couldn't believe how quick Rafi was to forgive Isaac for his cruelty back in school. Few holes are there in the plot , but I enjoyed the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Non proprio perfetto... ma leggibile con piacere
