About the author

Ana Jolene is the author of the Glory MC series, a New Adult Dystopian and the Contemporary Romance series, Moonrise Beach.
Growing up as a rebellious kid didn’t allow for much reading time. It wasn’t until she was in university that she found her passion for books and has since then devoured every book placed before her. Ana holds a B.A. in Psychology and has worked in both IT and Administration. But she’s had the most fun in the bookish world, working as a reviewer, columnist and assistant to multiple sites and authors.
Ana currently lives in Toronto with her family and an extremely lazy Shih Tzu whom she adores. To learn more about Ana and her books, visit www.anajolene.com and subscribe to the newsletter to be notified of the hottest new releases and giveaways!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 July 2017Glory is the first book in Ana Jolene's Glory MC series, set in a dystopian future where solar flares have decimated the population and the government has collapsed. The area has been split into different sectors and Glory Motorcycle Club control ward 4. There is some rivalry between the different wards but we're yet to find out exactly what happened to cause this or who is in charge of most of the other areas. Indy and Hastie meet when she starts working behind the bar at the Glory MC club house, he's instantly attracted to her but she's holding him at a distance because of a secret she is desperately trying to keep. It's up to Hastie to break through her defences if he wants to understand what makes Indy tick.
This is Ana Jolene's debut novel and I think she did a brilliant job of bringing her characters to life. Indy in particular was a complex character whose bipolar disorder affects her greatly. She could be a hard character to understand because she goes from phases of hyper-mania straight into boughts of depression and you never know quite what she'll do next but I felt that was realistic for someone with her illness. I found it frustrating that she wouldn't tell Hastie what was going on with her but at the same time I could completely understand why she didn't want to be judged for her bipolar disorder and was afraid that he'd walk away from her if he knew about it. I liked the way Hastie was so patient with her and so understanding when he did find out why she was blowing hot and cold with him but sometimes I struggled to fit his personality in with what I expect from a scary alpha biker. This isn't a genre I've read a huge number of books in but in my experience MC characters tend to be a bit more badass than the Glory MC members but that's hopefully something that will change as we get to know them all a bit better.
Where the story fell down for me was in the world building, there were definitely some interesting ideas in there and I can see it getting better as the series continues but I felt we needed a bit more background information about how the world came to be destroyed. There were some inconsistencies in the way we're told that there is no government and no police so life is hard but at the same time they had easy access to electricity (when a solar flare wasn't in progress) so the utilities companies are still running. They were also easily able to buy gas for their bikes, Indy owned a car and lived alone with a female friend with no mention of any danger, there didn't seem to be any food shortages or general lawlessness in the area and they were able to contact manufacturers to place orders for supplies when Indy wanted to give the bar she worked in a makeover. Basically I don't understand why the government is gone but everything else still seems to be running as normal and that threw me out of the story a bit.
I'm hoping that the world will be expanded upon in the next book and I definitely liked the characters enough to want to continue reading. Considering this was her debut I expect great things from Ana Jolene in the future.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 September 2016A MC club in a dystopian world and with a character with bipolar. Well let me start from the top, the cover really caught my eye it is hot and enticing. The blurb for this book totally got me intrigued as to the story. Dystopian world with a MC club and two very interesting sounding characters. So now to the story it was very interesting how Indy and Hastie connected. The description of Indy and her bipolar and how it fitted into the story was good, i wanted to know much more about how the world got to the state it is in. But for a new author this is a very accomplished book well done Ana Jolene i wan to see what you release next
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 January 2017I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.
I must confess that I normally don’t read future-fiction books where the earth and his people are in jeopardy but I do love stories about motorcycle clubs and the blurb left me curious enough to give this book a try. And I’m so glad that I did because I really enjoyed this story and I look very much forward to reading the second book in this series.
The world as we know is gone, in this place there is a world where solar flares can happen when you least expect it. A place where you live with the knowledge that today could be your last day on this earth. Because of all this, society is totally changed. There are now four ‘ward’ (territories). Ward four where India ‘Indy’ Beaumont lives is a place where there grows nothing, it’s a desert where the motorcycle club ‘Glory MC’ is the leader of this ward. Neptune is their clubhouse and it’s there that Indy finds a job as a bartender. She hopes that she can blend in. But that thought comes in trouble when she’s noticed by the president’s son of the MC, Ian Haste. It was never Indy’s intention of pulling the attention of a member of the Glory MC but she did. Ian is fascinated with the new girl working in the bar of their clubhouse. There is an attraction between them that both find hard to resist. Indy tries to resist it but Ian makes it hard for her. So in the end, they give in but Indy has a secret. She has bipolar II disorder. Which make it very hard for her to live a normal life. She tries but it isn’t always easy to hide it. But Ian is no fool and he knows that Indy is hiding something from him. And that gets him very frustrated and that’s not his only problem. The leader of Ward three is looking for trouble and with the way he’s behaving, it means that a war is coming very soon between the two Ward leaders. Can Indy trust Ian with her secret? Will he accept her no matter what or will he destroy her completely?
Like I said before I don’t have much experience with reading this kind of book but I found the world that the writer wrote about very interesting. The fact that there are now 4 sections (territories) and that one of them is lead by a motorcycle club. The writer didn’t really go into real big details about what happened or the consequences about it but that was something that I didn’t mind. My (and the writer’s focus) was on the main couple of this book and their friends and Ian’s motorcycle club.
I do have a lot of experience in reading about alpha men and Ian Haste is definitely one of those! The story is told from both POV’s what I really loved and there is no cheating in it. For the lovers of MC’s stories, I can you tell that this MC’s story isn’t really dark. But it’s definitely my kind of story, where the men are tough and alpha but where they also have a soft spot for their woman. Ana Jolene gave Indy the ‘perfect’ man with Ian, because of her disorder not every man would do. Indy’s disorder gave this story something more.
I’m very glad that I discovered this writer and this series and I can’t wait to read Lucky and Seven’s story (Indy and Ian best friends).
