Seven and Lucky were thrown together when their best friends started dating but their relationship has been anything but love at first sight, it started out antagonistic and then they started to enjoy winding each other up as much as possible. Until one drunken night all that had ever been between them was constant verbal sparring and banter but then a scorching hot kiss changed everything. They're suddenly both looking at each other in a new light but before they can explore that any further Lucky is called away on a family emergency and disappears without a word. When he returns weeks later Lucky is eager to jump back in where they left off but Seven has already been hurt once and she's not so willing to give him a second chance.

These two have one of my favourite kind of relationships, one where the sparks are obviously flying but they're both to stubborn to admit it and rather than act on their attraction they verbally spar to keep each other at a distance. I could see the potential between them in the first book so I was thrilled when I found out they'd be the second couple featured in this series and I have to admit I found Seven much easier to get to know and care about than Indie was. Seven has been through her own tough times but she's a strong character who is determined to stand on her own two feet and who has never let herself rely on anyone else. She's independent and knows what she wants so suddenly realising her feelings for Lucky have changed throws her for a loop.

Lucky walked away from his brothers at Glory MC because his sister needed him and although he hated to be gone so long he did what he had to at the time. I have to admit I thought Glory MC forgave him a little too quickly when he came back, I'd have expected the gang to be more put out that he hadn't kept in contact, especially considering everything else that was going on at the time, but I was glad that Seven didn't hold back on chewing him out for what happened. I enjoyed getting to know Lucky's sister (although I'm a bit creeped out by the age gap between her and her MUCH older boyfriend who had previously been like a father to her!) but I had trouble figuring out the exact age difference between her and Lucky which meant I struggled to understand how Lucky had been able to walk away and leave a vulnerable child with their drug addict mother years ago to join Glory MC in the first place. It just didn't seem to fit that he cared about her so much but pretty much abandoned her before so I'd have liked that side of things explained a little better.

We got a bit more information about the futuristic world that this series is set in which was definitely needed and I'm curious to see where the Glory MC alliance with another group is going to go in the future, especially now they seem to have mutual and very dangerous enemies. I'm enjoying this series and looking forward to the next book, Nirvana, but I think I need to feel a little more like this is a gang of scary, badass bikers. At times the members of Glory seem to be a little too soft and the President made a few decisions that just didn't quite mesh up with what I'd expect from this kind of MC gang.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

For people new to this series, I can tell you that this story (and series) takes place in a world where solar flares not only have changed the earth but also society like we know it. Many people have died and there is no government or police anymore. The ‘new’ world is now divided in Wards and the MC club Glory rules Ward Four and it’s here where the story takes place.

‘Origin’ is the second book in the ‘Glory MC’ series. After reading and enjoying ‘Glory’ (the first book of this series), I was looking forward to reading the next one. ‘Origin’ continues telling the story of the bad boys of the Glory MC club. The main characters in this book are Lucky and Seven, two people we already met in the first book.

Bad boy Lucky is a member of the Glory MC club. He and feisty Seven can’t really stand each other but when their best friends start dating, they can’t really avoid each other very much. So each meeting is a competition where the person with the most sarcastic comments wins. Now, it has come to the point that they do it without thinking about it. And then one night, something happens that neither of them thought possible. They share a drunken kiss together. They both don’t know what to think about that but they really don’t get the chance to talk about it because Lucky leaves both Seven and Glory MC for a while. He doesn’t want to but sometimes you don’t have a choice. When Lucky finally comes back, two months have passed. He promised Knuckle, the president of Glory MC, that he would stay away for one week, so he knows that he’s in trouble with his brothers but he also has unfinished business with Seven.

Because he didn’t made contact with his brothers for two months, they feared that he was killed by their enemies the Phantoms. This means that his welcome back to the club is mixed with very different feelings and to make things worse , through certain circumstances he is now forced to live together with Seven for a while. The only good thing about it is that Seven hates the idea more than he does. And so they continues their little war between them. But the more they get to know each other, the more they begin to realize that maybe they didn’t know each other that well. Maybe their impression of each other was wrong and maybe the feelings they are feeling aren’t hate but something else?! But both, Seven and Lucky, had had a very difficult childhood, with secrets that could destroy this relationship before it even had time to blossom. And then you have their enemies who are waiting for just the right time to attack. To destroy them and Ward Four for good.
Can both survive all that? And are both willing to trust each other and their feelings?

Like I said in my review of ‘Glory’, the main focus of the story is on the couple and on the Glory MC club. It was really great seeing Hastie and Indy back, and the other guys of the Glory MC.
I would recommend that you read Glory first.

Readers who are very sensitive about certain themes, I must warn you that the writer Ana Jolene isn’t afraid to write about sensitive topics. In her first book the heroine had bipolar II disorder and in this book both Lucky and Seven had had a very difficult childhood. Lucky’s past gets revealed to us through past childhood memoires. This way you slowly discover his past, a way of writing I really appreciated when dealt with difficult situations.

One of the reasons that I was looking forward to this book was the fact that it was a story about ‘enemies’ becoming lovers and I’m always curious how the writer will let it happen. I really enjoyed the way that Ana Jolene did it. Although both, Lucky and Seven, act like they are really tough and sarcastic, both also have a soft side to them. Only their best friends see this side of them. It took a while before Lucky saw this side of Seven and vice versa. The writer really took her time to build the relationship between them but as a reader you were never bored! There were a lot of things going on this book. You never knew what was going to happen next and that’s something that I like as a reader. The story was told from both POV’s and there was no cheating.

The one thing that I, personal, had a little problem with was the situation with 'young' Lucky and that he left everything and someone special behind when he left home but that’s just my opinion.

I did enjoyed this MC story and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
