    This short read has a big message, as well as a deliciously satisfying outcome. Clint definitely cannot catch a break - but he is hopeful that bad things come in threes!

    But when the deputy Mayor, Hawk rescues him from himself, suddenly everything is looking up. I am not always a big fan of rapid romances, but the scene is set really well, and there is a good argument for a friends to lovers scenario. And anyway, they are both cute and hot together!

    For a quick read to bring a smile to your face, this could surely be the one.

    I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

    This story confused me. I couldn’t decide whether Hawk was a slightly domineering and vaguely creepy stalker or if he was just a wonderfully dominant alpha male.

    Within a few pages, Hawk rescues Clint from a life that couldn’t possibly get any worse. Add 24hrs and some insta love and Hawk completely takes over and transforms Clint’s life.

    This story is saved by a little dark humour - and by the fact that this might be more erotica than romance. Where romance doesn’t often work in a short story format, erotica is perfectly suited. There is a lot of pretty explicit sex in this book. In erotica, readers expect fantasy men like Hawk. Hey - we all need someone to take us to bed and solve all our problems. Realism be damned!

    So - this is sexy, fantasy insta love. IRL we’d all probably call the cops if someone on a first date had memorised the details of our life. But this is erotic romance and I was able to get right into this fantasy.

    I always enjoy books by Cardeno C. and this book is no exception. My only complaint is that I wish the ending was a bit more fleshed out. I like a little more epilogue than this. So, you know, an actual epilogue. But all in all, for a quick steamy read this story delivers.

    Hawk, the lawyer moved to town for one reason, Deputy Clint. Clint is 29, and a big, hot hunk. Hawk, 39, taller and bigger, rescues drunk Clint from the reception. Clint’s ex, Ewan is engaged, already ! Hawk takes Clint home to woo him, and declare his intentions. Clint is leery, but Hawk is serious, only Clint will do. Our men are terrific, have high sex drives and are a perfect fit.

    Hot and silly. Not remotely believable, but steamy hot and a sweet escape. I always think of these kinds of books as donuts without the calories - sweet, intense and delicious but not filling or nutritious, and if you read too many of them you'll feel slightly queasy, but one every so often is just a pop of flavor. Have I over done the metaphor? Perhaps, but you know what I mean...

    I really loved this short story. Everything happens pretty fast, but that's part of the charm of the story. It's like getting caught in an avalanche of super-sweet romance and then having it immediately followed by a flash fire of hot, hot, hot! There were lots of very funny moments for such a short book, too. Hawk is open and romantic (insanely, so!) and we see enough of Clint to know right away that he deserves the brand of love that Hawk is going to deliver. No doubt these guys get their HEA!
