About the Author

Jojo moyes inspired new author, T.A. Rosewood, who wrote her first short story when she was just thirteen years old in a school text book, which was called, 'Look's Aren't Everything'. During her GCSE English exam, she was supposed to write a 2-page short story; but once she'd started writing, she couldn't stop, ending up with a 30 page story for her GCSE English exam! She was actually marked down for that exam too. Hey ho! In her twenties, she began writing poetry and to date, has had five of them published in various poetry publications, but, as her family and life grew busy, she found she had to stop writing. Almost two decades later though, she was inspired to write again, when she met bestselling author Jojo Moyes at the open evening of Harts Books store in Saffron Walden, Essex. She listened intently as Jojo Moyes described how it felt for her when her bestselling book 'Me Before You' was turned into a Hollywood Film. At that precise moment, she felt was inspired, turned to her husband and said: "I'm going to start writing again" and she did just that. A month into starting the book, her mother was diagnosed with the same illness as the main character in Reasonable Lies so again, she halted all her writing to concentrate on helping her mother through her ordeal. Thankfully, her mother recovered and told her she has to continue with the book and the rest is history as they say! Now the debut, 'Reasonable Lies', book is out there and available as an ebook and paperback. T.A. Rosewood lives in North Essex.

My writing journey began at thirteen with a short story called “Looks Aren’t Everything” – a dramatic tale of teenage love that probably involved far too many exclamation marks and not enough actual plot!

Then came my memorable GCSE English exam, where I was asked to write a two-page story. Clearly, I missed the memo about brevity being the soul of wit, because I handed in thirty pages! The story was called “The Runaway” – rather fitting, as my words have never learned to behave and stay within their designated boundaries. And yes, in a twist of irony that only life could deliver, this enthusiastic overflow of creativity led to me failing English. (Though I like to think I’ve had the last laugh on that one!)

My twenties saw me dabbling in poetry, pouring my heart out about love, family, relationship dramas, and losses – five of which actually made it into published collections. But then life did what it does best: it got complicated. Marriage, a business to run, and children to raise meant my writing dreams were temporarily filed under “Someday Maybe.”

That “someday” finally arrived after a chance encounter with bestselling author Jojo Moyes at Harts Books in Saffron Walden, Essex. She lit a spark that turned into a full-blown writing inferno, and I haven’t looked back since.

March 2020 saw the release of my debut novel, “Reasonable Lies,” and suddenly my writing addiction had a purpose! I’ve since self-published seven novels, two novellas, and eight children’s books – not that I’m counting (okay, I totally am).

As a proud born and bred Essex girl, I still call it home, sharing space with my husband, our two grown-up children, and Robbie the West Highland Terrier – who has yet to offer any useful plot suggestions despite all the walks we take together.

When I’m not typing away at my next story or trying to convince my characters to behave (spoiler alert: they never do), you’ll find me jetting off to my favourite destination, Italy. There I would be exploring Italian vineyards, pretending I’m researching for my next book. In reality, I’m probably just hunting down the perfect tiramisu to go with my Barolo wine, but don’t tell anyone!

    Reasonable Lies

Trigger Warnings – Cancer, Grief, Death, Suicide.

Wow... I full on sobbed while reading this book. To the point I had to have a break because the words were all blury.
As a subject that is so close to my heart and my family I felt it was so beautifully written and compasionate. As someone who has experienced loss because of this moster of an illness I felt it allowed me to have a slight insight into what the people I have lost felt during the last few months, weeks and even days.

I loved Jane and her strength just poured out throughout the book. Although I disagreed with her decision to keep up with these reasonable lies to some extent I understand why she done it. The power she had to go through what she did alone was just empowering. I did find it hard to come to terms with how quickly everyone seem to get over the news but everyone handles things differently.

THAT PLOT TWIST!!!! I did NOT see that coming but I LOVED it! What an absolutley beautiful, heart breaking twist.

I really enjoyed that the story continued to tell you more about Sarah and Janice. I liked the last chapter written from Cassies point of view, seeing where here and Robbie are in their lifes.

This book has made me realise how important it is as a woman to check myself, I personally feel that mamograms should take place at a much younger age, as in this story if it wasn't for an awareness day Jane would have never found out until the very end, leaving her no time to make the happy memories she did.

For anyone planning to read this book, and I highly recommend that you do as soon as possible, buy tissues with it!! Lots of them!!

This is a book that takes you on an emotional journey. I’ve cried a lot after reading this book. Which reminded me that life can be so tough, but this shows how resilient the human being can be. Something we sometimes need reminding of. It highlights that no matter what there is always hope and that if you look hard enough you can find positives in everything. This hit close to home as I’ve lost a lot of family members and friends with the Big C so it hits harder as I know what it was like going through Jane’s journey. The reasonable lies you often tell the people around you to make there lives easier for them, the feeling that you were a burden to them or you are being treated differently because of the cancer. As a mother myself I can resonate with Jane, it’s not about the fear of dying, it’s about the fear of who’s going to look after our kids when we are no longer here, being able to see them grow up, be there for their first heart breaks, first dance, getting married, being a grandparent to their children. It sucks because knowing you are terminally ill is like a death sentence, you have to live everyday not knowing will this be my last day?

This is a reminder that we should always check our breast and please always attend your smear test ladies it’s only a few minutes of uncomfortable feeling but it will save our lives if it’s being caught early on.

This book read with so much compassion, love and empathy. There’s sadness, laughter and hope to it.

I hope one day they will be able to find a cure for cancer. I know everyone will somehow relate to Jane and her journey.

I highly recommend reading this but please be warn you’ll be needing a lot of tissue to wipe your tears away. What an incredible debut novel.

A real page turner of a story about a sensitive subject. Secrets and deception to protect loved ones, is it reasonable under these circumstances? Attempting to save others from certain emotional pain. Makes one wonder what they would do in such instances. Thought provoking and very deep. Tragic but enjoyable reading.

The entire notion of a wife and mother dealing with breast cancer is an emotional one. In this novel, the main character learns she has it and decides to protect her family from the news as long as she can. She has a picture perfect life: job, husband, children, and friend. My main objection to this book is that there are no conflicts anywhere in her life except the cancer. No one argues or gets testy, everyone is accepting and supportive. Maybe that's just as well since I liked the main character and her story evoked plenty of emotion. Overall, it's a quick read and a good cry.

Reasonable Lies is superbly written. The storyline is heart wrenching, and the the story arc is engaging from start to finish. Be warned, however. You will need tissues. I made it to Chapter Four before I broke down and cried. I cried for the MC, for her dad, for me, for my dad. I was a huge blubbery mess. But I could not help myself. I had to keep reading. And I pretty much cried throughout the entire book. It reminded me of the fragility of our lives and everything we take for granted. This book will tear you to pieces and build you back together and leave you questioning everything from the meaning of life to every white lie you ever told. I only wish I'd read it sooner. Life happens and it sat on my TBR stack too long, but it was truly worth the wait. (And this cover is just stunning.)

I thought that I would be reading “Reasonable Lies” by T. A. Rosewood slowly over the weekend but I could not put this book down today. I was so emotionally vested in the main character Jane that I needed to know all the details of her life and those that she held near and dear to her heart.

Ms. Rosewood beautifully describes all the characters emotions and in doing so has the reader immersed in each characters life. This book was written with such passion that even as I write this I have tears rolling down my face. You will come to understand what one would consider a “reasonable lie” and how important it can turn out to be.

Thank you Ms. Rosewood for writing and sharing this magnificent book with the world. I give this book 5/5 stars and I highly recommend that if you are looking for a book about life, love, family, humility, joy, and yes even death, that you read this book.
