Vestmen's Gale Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 5 ratings

The Last Kingdom meets The Screwtape Letters in this historical fiction/fantasy. National bestselling author David McCaleb delivers a thriller like none other, opening our eyes to a hidden realm, thinly veiled. Vestmen’s Gale is a story of sacrifice, redemption, and purpose...of a new believer’s foray upon an ancient battleground.

A World Not His Own…

Michael is drawn back in time to the age when Vikings ventured to North America. He finds himself in the body of a Norseman and a member of a raiding party tasked with rescuing their chieftain’s kidnapped daughter from a local tribe. He soon discovers a chilling link between her and his own world. In his journey back to the present, he battles warring natives, shapeshifting demons, and the scars of his past.

A People Torn Apart…

Kiona, the daughter of a powerful Mi’kmaq shaman, struggles against her deceitful mother whose actions threaten the peace between her tribe and the newly arrived Vikings. Will she choose to remain loyal to her people, or forsake her family to help Michael free their Viking prisoner?

David McCaleb

David McCaleb is the national bestselling author of the RED OPS thriller series. With
Vestmen’s Gale, he packs the same blistering action and lush detail into a historical fantasy. And it’s his best work yet; a story like none told before. “It’s a modern hero’s adventure in an old world. One filled with rash Vikings, superstitious natives, and kingdoms of darkness. But the discerning reader will recognize the real tale among the threads of truth woven throughout.” Enjoy!

From the Author

I was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, one of the last rural green belts of the East Coast. From a young age my parents encouraged creativity while instilling a strong work ethic in myself and my two older sisters. All three of us credit them for our artistic bents.

I lived at least five lives before beginning writing. I graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and hold an MBA. I have been a successful entrepreneur, business owner, marketer, military officer, salesman, financial analyst, drapery installer, and bullet manufacturer. Failed ventures are too many to list. But my greatest titles are father and husband. Both duties are super-hard, painfully humbling, and often thankless, however the perks are enduring and give meaning to life.

All my experiences, whether personal or career, find their way into characters and scenes. And to those readers curious enough to look, a deeper meaning will be revealed. Enjoy the reads!

First in the series. A national bestseller.

Meet Red Harmon, a father and husband, who defends his family in a parking lot from two muggers. He acts instantly, with skillful violence, but minutes later remembers none of it.

RECALL is a journey of discovery – a mystery and thriller. As Red digs deeper, a past hidden even from himself emerges and threatens to tear apart his life and compromise national security. Once an elite military operator with the Det, a fusion cell of intelligence agencies and Special Forces, his active service was complete.

But his memory is returning, a lethal machine is awakening, and Red is returning to duty.

Red Harmon is back in the line of fire . . .

Investigating threats against his family, Red discovers a plot bigger than himself, bigger than the Det, and one that seduces him into the remote snow-covered ravines of North Korea.

Dedicated to those who, even this day, suffer in the North Korean gulags (concentration camps); and to the hundreds of thousands of individuals and families imprisoned within their electric fences.

Trained to endure extreme danger and survive impossible odds, elite military operator Red Harmon has battled our nation’s enemies for years. While in the Rocky Mountains for R&R, Red’s family is violently attacked by an international squad of assassins. No ordinary wet-team, this group is only the vanguard of a power play threatening national security.

David McCaleb is a national bestselling author whose debut was nominated for best first novel by the International Thriller Writers Organization. He lived no less than five lives before beginning his writing career, providing an uncommon depth to his lively characters. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, holds an MBA, and has been a successful entrepreneur, marketer, military officer, salesman, inventor, financial analyst, and manufacturer. He takes his craft seriously, and his tales are good stories, well told.

He grew up on a farm on the Eastern Shore of Virginia where he studied the teachings of nature, intermingled with hard labor. One of the last green belts on the East Coast, the Eastern Shore is steeped in creative culture, with which he credits much of his inspiration. He lived many places during his varied professions but returned to the Eastern Shore where he currently resides with his wife. Though he enjoys any project involving the work of hands, his chosen tool is now the pen.
