How To Remove Trauma Response: A Memory Reconsolidation Guidebook for Therapists and Coaches Kindle Edition
Sound far-fetched? It’s not. Neuroscience has shown that trauma can be removed completely. Indeed, the brain has an in-built mechanism for doing just that. It is called memory reconsolidation.
This book shows you how to use that mechanism to remove trauma for your clients. It reveals the exact steps the brain needs so that trauma can be removed reliably and consistently. It shows you how to apply them to your work in the therapy room, step by step. It provides you with a road map that increases your potency and effectiveness as a therapist.
As a result, clients struggling with depression, anxiety, attachment difficulties, self-worth issues, and many other trauma leftovers transform suddenly and for good. No relapse. No ongoing exercises. Just complete and effortless transformation.
Would you like to gain mastery of the brain’s in-built healing process and get regular, spectacular results?

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 September 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseBased on the neuroscience of Memory Reconsolidation, this book outlines how therapists and coaches can support clients towards long-lasting, transformational change. The book covers lots of ways in which Memory Reconsolidation can be activated, in an easily accessible way - it's not about learning a new therapeutic approach, and it's also NOT about helping clients to manage their current symptoms... it is about helping clients lead a life in the here and now which is no longer impacted by their trauma. I would 100% recommend this book to any coach / therapist.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 December 2022Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis is a clear, accessible introduction and guide for therapists to incorporate memory reconsolidation into their practice. Memory reconsolidation isn't a recent discovery in neuroscience but its ability to permanently rewire the brain and heal trauma for good isn't as widely known as it deserves to be. Alun Parry is effectively writing himself and other therapists out of their jobs, but then, isn't the goal of therapy to make the therapist redundant?
Parry writes clearly and with excellent, simple metaphors that elucidate the seven steps of memory reconsolidation and how these work in practice, with useful examples of dialogue between therapist and patient. He shows that Memory Reconsolidation is the only known mechanism for removing trauma. Therapists may already be effectively activating the mechanism in their existing practice, but not necessarily consciously or consistently. This guidebook gives therapists the tools to incorporate memory reconsolidation deliberately into their arsenel of techniques for more consistent success with clients.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 August 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI found this book an incredibly helpful tool for use with Chronic pain patients. Being inexperienced to the world of psychology I found this to be jargon free and user friendly. My research for my Masters degree led me to discovering this neuroscience evidence. I was so impressed that I joined his academy. This book has changed the game for me in how I work with chronic pain. The results are even better than I could have ever imagined using this no nonsense jargon-free book and Aluns experience and knowledge. One of the most readable and helpful books.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 September 2022Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI was impressed with how well thought out, engaging and straightforward to follow this book was. I liked that the client was always at the front and centre of the process and discussed respectfully in all circumstances. I think that therapists, particularly working in this area would find this incredibly valuable, especially given Parry’s supportive style and encouragement to use this approach to tweak their practice, rather than telling them that all other methods are useless. It was certainly eye opening for me, I shall be reading it again and following the referenced authors and theories too.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 February 2023Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseOverall a helpful book, and easy read. A lot of padding though, not just the line-spacing, saying in 10 pages what could be said in 2. Case studies were good. Relating more to EMDR generally and Bruce Ecker research would put this approach in context.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 September 2022Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseHave you heard the saying "keep it simple stupid" the author of this terrific book has explained how to remove trauma and other presenting issues that clients come to therapy for, in 6 easy steps V. ery easy to understand through memory consolidation.
You could apply this mechanism so easily to your practice or even apply it to your own life as it's not just for therapists. Highly recommended well done 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Inside Out
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseWe came to this book backwards. We joined Alun Parry's private community, started learning everything we could about memory reconsolidation, then purchased the book. Because we needed to read it to be able to recommend it. We just sent Alun this testimonial:
This is the first time we've purchased something for our business that has impacted our personal life on such an unmistakably profound level. This is not just an education — it's a life reclaimation. Every therapist & coach needs this in their bag of tricks and knowledge, and when it hits the tipping point, it will change the world.
So while we came to this book through having already learned all the basics about memory reconsolidation, this book is a firm foundation and introduction to this art. And it is an art. There's so many angles to approach this brain mechanism and invite change. Just get the book, learn more about how people can achieve change in their life, it may change yours.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacks depth and comprehensiveness
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseAs a professional in the field of psychology, I found this book to be lacking in depth and comprehensiveness. While the book addresses the important topic of trauma, it falls short in several critical areas.
Instead I recommend Bruce Ecker’s "Unlocking the Emotional Brain" because it is more complete, current, and clear. It integrates recent advancements in neuroscience to offer practical, evidence-based strategies for achieving transformational change. It provides a comprehensive understanding of how implicit emotional learnings can be effectively modified or unlearned. The clarity and structure in Ecker's presentation make it accessible and highly applicable in clinical practice.
If you need something more like a practice manual I recommend Bruce Ecker's "Coherence Therapy".
