- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2013Great GREAT concept. Frankenstein comes to the rescue when humanity is besieged by zombies. Frankenstein, being made of reanimated flesh himself, doesn't know how the zombies will react to him- will they attack? Will they ignore? And the exploration of that idea could have made a fantastic novella.
As it stands we get a short story that is brimming with imagination and ideas. But sadly, the story ends before the ideas are fully explored or explained. In a way its complimentary, to say that as a reader i didn't want it to end, but on the other hand there is a slight feeling of unfulfilled potential... instead of good, with a little more work this story could have been GREAT. Even extending the ending to provide explanation as to how Frankenstein was able to do what he did, or what he chose to do next, would have improved this tale greatly.
This author has talent, and I will check out some of his other stories. I rated 3.5 starts, awarded 4 stars because no half stars here at amazon, but honestly this could have been a 5 star with more work.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2013There are a few grammatical errors in this story. With that being said, I'll now say this: Josh Hilden has an AWESOME IMAGINATION!!!
Frankenstein, King of the Zombies is a hit with me!
I really enjoyed the way Josh Hilden painted a picture (via words of course!) of Frankenstein's life before the dead rose up and the brief glimpse of his friendship with Vlad.
There is a some content in here that's not suitable for younger readers(In my opinion.) STILL, this story just ROCKS!!!
As soon as payday rolls around and I get money in my checking account, I'll be looking into his other works.
I highly suggest this story for fans of Frankenstein and or Zombies!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2013This short story envisions how Frankenstein would handle the zombie apocalypse. It's a decent read, yet I feel that it would have been better had the author taken more time to develop the plot. At its current length it comes across as an unfinished work.
I gave this an extra point for originality, as I have not read nor seen a zombies apocalyptic story with Frankenstein as part of the cast.
Readers should know that there is a rape scene that is mentioned but not described in details. Due to that element I do not recommend this to young readers.
I feel that lovers of the horror, zombie apocalypse and short story genres may enjoy this story.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2014This is a well-written short story with good character development. I really liked the modern day twists on frankenstein, dracula, and other standard horror movies.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2013Definitely a different take on the zombie genre and very enjoyable. Something like this would make a very good full book. Josh Hilden has written a number of short zombie stories and each one is unique. This one goes to the top of the list in my opinion.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2014I like this story because it is different. All of Josh 's stories are very well written. Hey Josh, will there be more to this one?
