Vampire's Soul: A Vampire Queen Series Novel Kindle Edition
Cai doesn’t want a servant, and he doesn’t want to be around any other vampires. Rand just wants to forget his human side, stay in his wolf form, and find a violent, bloody way to bring it all to an end.
But when a young female vampire’s life is at stake, the Vampire Council drafts Cai to enter a dark world he never wanted to visit again. Rand is too honorable to let him go alone, and the only way that can work is if the wolf shifter is Cai’s fully marked servant, bound to the vampire for all eternity.
So fate decides these two lost souls need each other. Even if they have to tear each other apart to figure it out.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2017An incredible roller coaster ride of emotions. I say this over-and-over again, Joey Hill is a master at understanding emotions and life. How she weaves it into this complex world of vampires, fae, shifters, and who knows what else to come, is quite amazing. I read and re-read the first two (2) chapters that were gifted on her website, so many times; I couldn't wait until release day. The wait was well worth it. If you cannot read BDSM or M/M books, then stop now. Please, do not read the book then gripe about this type of content. The anguish of Cai's and Rand's lives will live in me as the children of "Vampire Instinct" continue to do so all of these years later. Their relationship is done to perfection, “Cai’s gaze had that predatory glitter that was terrifying if you were his food, and impossible to resist if you were his.” Their capacity to love unfathomable, “Feel what I believe about you. Feel what I feel for you.” This is a much lighter book as it pertains to vampire social gatherings, but a much heavier book at its looks into the society we have watched unfold and develop. There is no stagnation on the part of Joey’s characters. When Farida is mentioned in a single sentence, I was immediately taken to “The Season of Giving.” The weight at "what could have been" given a much deeper thought (It remains my most FAVORITE novella by any author, but I am partial to this series). As a mom, I want to hold these characters in my arms and never let go. The location of the third mark marks (yes, more than one) is significant. Overall, Joey reminds us that life is, “made up of love and loss, and wisdom often so hard-earned, it (rides) hand-in-hand with guilt, regret and nightmares.” For those who survive, we can only hope that they find peace and love.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2017I’ve been a huge Joey W Hill fan for a while now, and particularly love her Vampire Queen series. But I have to say Vampire’s Soul is probably one of my favorites of her many wonderful books. Cai and Rand are wonderful characters, with that trademark Hill depth of character. The romance is deliciously hot, but it also has a lovely sweetness in between moments of roaring conflict. There’s a hell of a lot more to Hill’s books than sex or romance. One of her themes is the way broken people heal each other, which is one reasons I’m such a fan.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2017I love Joey W. Hill's books and this one did not disappoint. My only complaint was that Lyssa was supposed to reveal information about Graham's whereabouts to Cai and didn't. Trying to think positive that this was done on purpose and will lead into another story. (hint... hint!)
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2017I have read all Joey's Vampire Queen novels and I think that Vampire's Soul is my new favorite! So much to love about this book! First, it (I hope, hope, HOPE) begins a new coupling (for the VQ series) of wolf and vampire. Second, it seems as if love is out of the closet (so to speak). My favorite couples (Lyssa and Jacob; Mason and Jessica, Brian and Debra, and of course D,G, and Anwyn) don't even try to hide their heretofore forbidden vampire/servant love from others. Even a kid (John) freely described Lyssa and Jacob as being in love to a stranger. What I truly enjoyed about Cai and Rand's relationship is that Rand, a wolf shifter, was nearly equal in strength and prowess with Cai, a made vampire. Rand voluntarily subjugated himself to Cai and the resulting relationship was absolutely amazing, heartwarming, and beautiful. Both Cai and Rand had suffered extreme emotional (and with Rand, physical) pain. Traumas so severe that neither thought they could continue to survive. But they fit together beautifully and healed each other. Please, Joey, give us more on Rand and Cai! Cai is the vampire version of Gideon; they are SO alike. I would love to see them work together again and for Cai to forgive Gideon. A book on how Cai and Rand eventually enlarge their pack by 'adopting' a young female vampire---a wealthy female vampire-- would be a hoot! I can just see Cai having to adjust to fancy dinner parties and vampire entertainment hyjinks. I especially want to see more of Wolf. What's his story and how is it that he works for Anwyn? What does D&G think of Wolf? While we wait for the vampire kids (and John) to grow up, let's see
more action with wolf shifters and vampires! (From my mouth to Joey's ears!)
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2017I love Joey Hill's stories, whether it be a vampire story or a BDSM story. I am in my 60's and have been reading her stories since the first one. I have most of them in both paperback and e-book format. So you can see that I am a FAN. In anticipation of this story, I went and re-read (again) the previous stories to get mentally prepared to be blown away by this latest. And I was - blown away, grabbed by the heart, still running the story over and over in my head. I finished the story early yesterday and have already gone back to re-read my favorite sections. I am just in total awe at the way Joey Hill can take a totally broken person and re-make them into a beautifully fulfilled and loved/loving being. I can't get enough of them - Gideon, Devlin, Cai and Rand, Lyssa and on and on. I loved Cai's comments and Rand's steady support. I just know that Joey will bring these two back and let us see how they have matured/grown emotionally. I can't wait. In the meantime, since I hurried through this story the first time, I will now so back and read it again - slowly, so that I don't miss any of this author's beautiful language and nuances. PS: I have to say, I love that Gideon is in such a happy place right now that he could forgive Cai for what he did. So good, so good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can not get enough of Joey W. Hill!
I love how Joey W. Hill manages to take you to new levels and worlds within a series. The relationship between Cai and Rand was different from what I've read before but no less intense or powerful. I look forward to reading more about them in future books as they contiunue to find their way in the world as Master and servant, vampire and wolf.

5.0 out of 5 stars This time an ex-trad made vampire with creation magic (Cai) and a wolf-shifter with no love for life after losing his pack (Rand)
Another delightful mm novel from Joey Hill.
This time an ex-trad made vampire with creation magic (Cai) and a wolf-shifter with no love for life after losing his pack (Rand). All starts with a mix of violence, life and death situation and pure lust for one another that helps both to forget their painful existence. But then things get complicated when they get involved in the rescue of a young vampire kidnapped from her family by the Trads that made Cai.
Add Lady Lyssa, Jacob, Daegan and Gideon to the mix and you get 'la creme de la creme' in the Vampire Queen series, and some dramatic and funny encounters between them.
Rand wears his heart on his sleeve whereas Cai has created a cold wall of cynicism and distrust towards his fellows vampires and the world in general. And it is fascinating and hot seeing this two colliding and dancing around each other, getting to know themselves and learning to feel again. And yes, there is sex, and BDSM (I now want to know more about Wolf!, please please Joey?).
If you like the Vampire Queen Series, and if you liked Gideon and Daegan, you have a bonus here :) because both are Cai and Rand's reinforcement during their mission, and even Anwyn plays an important role in their story.
And wolve shifters, lots of them, and Debra, Lord Brian, Lady Lyssa and Jacob, and even a council after dinner event! (I missed those! lol).
Recommended!

Joey W Hill has such a way with words. She can paint such complex layers and depths to her characters that her novels are like a feast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fascinating book in the Vampire Queen Series
I love the Vampire Queen Series and the quality of writing has never faltered. I often reread the whole series and constantly delve into a couple of my personal favourites. However, I wasn't sure that this would be my cup of tea because it involved a shifter but I was pleasantly surprised and didn't want to put the book down. As ever, it is the development of the relationship between the main characters that fascinates me and these are always well crafted by Joey. I can't wait until the next book in the series is published.

4.0 out of 5 stars worth it
This is an emotional and very hevy book but worth every seond. It's also extremely erotic and hot as hell. IMO,it may be a tad too long. But at no point did i feel tempted to skim so i don't really know what could be trimmed off...
The HEA was all the better for how hard won it was. And I
adored the heroes.
Seriously, of all the books in this amazing series, the last two were my favorites - the MM pairings were just so spot on and packed a huge emotional punch.
