Meg Turner needs to relax. Between her job, her mother and the loss of a good Dom, she’s all wound up and needs a good flogging to relieve her tensions.

Rand Arthur is a busy man with a company to run. He doesn’t need commitments, but when his friend asks him to take Meg on as a new sub, he agrees, knowing there’s nothing that relieves stress like flogging a willing back.

But by the end of their first session, both see something in the other neither expected. Now they need to decide if they want to change the rules...and risk losing it all.

Bondage. Chains. Rope. Tied down and taken.

We all have our fantasies, right? Diana started writing her stories back in 2002 when the web was young and she couldn’t find BDSM stories that explored the romantic love she knew existed. When a friend challenged her to write one of her own, she did—and Secret Submission was born, along with a career in writing BDSM-themed erotic romance.

When not tied to her writing, Diana can be found engaging in other, more mundane activities such as gardening, scrapbooking the memories of her two grown children, or weaving (yes, by hand, on a real loom). Still married to her best friend, she’s branched out and begun writing in other genres as well. After all, why should we only have one fantasy?

You can find Diana’s other works under the names CF Duprey (historical fiction), Diana Allandale (straight romance and short stories) and Mystic Shade (for the shadier sides of our desires).

Play safe!

I wanted a BDSM book involving the domination. The author offers precisely that. Parts are as dark as anything I have read.

    STRESS RELIEF by Diana Hunter.

Meg needs bondage and pain. She has weekly sessions with a Dom to relieve stress from her job, her mother, and other. Her regular Dom left town and recommended Rand as a replacement Dom. Rand feels his job is to break her with humiliation and pain in order to see who she really is. He has her naked and servicing other men in public. Other men cause her pain and enjoy seeing her cry. Some unusual things are done, for example, Meg must contort her body to fit into a tiny cage/box that makes it hard to breathe and causes muscle cramps. She is locked into it for a painful amount of time.

I've read other BDSM that I found hot and entertaining, but this was less. I was uncomfortable. It's a different type of story. Technically this is romance because the couple is together at the end, but it didn't have the feel of romance. Instead of relationship development, it's more about abusing the slave.

The blurb tells you pretty much the basic set-up; what is doesn't tell you is that, though the plot isn't complicated with action, it is nicely complicated with some emotional bdsm. This isn't the light, playful bdsm either. And while I can say that this is not the hardest bdsm I've read, this story really does have its gritty and raw moments. It is medium to hard bdsm, and there are many times in the story that the action is heavy and very hard with pain and humiliation brought into play.

Meg starts off her relationship with Rand with only the hope of relieving some life stress, much as she had done with her previous Dom, but she can tell right away that Rand is a very different kind of Dom. He's harder, rougher, and pushes against all her self-constructed barriers and restraints. Meg calls him a mean bastard several times, and I would have to say that he really is that. But Meg does have a safe word and gesture to use, but she never does, as some part of her is liking this deeper, more intense submissive/Dom relationship.

Rand's desire is to teach Meg to open up and to face every part of her submissive personality. He wants her to realize that there is more to it than the temporary release from a flogging, and he thinks that if he can push her, even break her, that Meg will finally face what's holding her back. So Rand pushes her and pushes her, and every time Meg rises to the challenge, accepting whatever he throws at her. He has to take the dynamic from strictly top and bottom/Dom and sub to that of Master and sex slave in order to make Meg see what she truly wants out of her life.

I have a real thing for bdsm that forces that aspect of subjugated sex slave, and this story did this in a very forceful way. Meg is completely objectified; she is a plaything for Rand's amusement and that of his friends. She is a puppet dancing to every orchestrated maneuver in Rand's plan to break her down. Their very first scene is this puppet/master in a nutshell. At Rand's home, he has a contraption he designed and built himself; in this device he bound Meg, locking her legs and arms in cuffs and chains. He then moved her at will, very much like a puppet.

While this book may be considered erotic romance, I look at it as more erotica. There is a touch of romance/love to it, but don't go in expecting hearts and flowers. Although HEA may be implied, this story is definitely not light and fluffy romance; it is some good erotica with some heavy, intense bdsm elements, with some humiliation and even degradation being involved as well.

I liked this story for what it was; it was straightforward, never disguising the deep bdsm with a shallow, PC veneer. It's a hard, erotic, and uncomfortable read that may even disturb some readers. This is my first time to read this author, and I definitely will be reading her again.
