    This book was great even when it had me worried and almost in tears because it makes you feel. This book hits all the big emotions happiness, passion, sadness, jealousy, anxiety, and even confusion. While it wasn't always blatant the confusion and introspection these characters felt was so relatable and felt so real like you were seeing someone's actual discovery of themselves or where there place is in life or a relationship in a variety of ways. This author does a brilliant job of not only mingling the passion of bdsm with real life situations while keeping the fantasy intact but this series brilliantly weaves in the layer of paranormal and magic that sets it apart from so many other stories out there. All 3 of our characters fought for themselves, each other and their dreams in both big and small ways. Their relationship wasn't always easy or smooth but the best ones never are. Nial was just delicious I mean who doesn't love a good accent or a kilt. While even hotness was a little more hidden but quick to catch fire once you saw it. And Alanna was kind of like a bridge or medium to really complete the circuit and make everything flow. These characters were written so well with a natural flow and chemistry, where each one had something to balance another. And the ending was perfect an HEA that left me wanting more even if it's just glimpses of them in future books but still satisfied with where they were. If you are just getting into books with bdsm or want your kink with A side of paranormal you absolutely can not go wrong with anything by this author. This book was also filled with many choices and seeing how those choices could affect others but also understanding that a choice in the end is singular in a lot of ways even if it causes a ripple effect. And you can't truly force someone to choose a certain way that choice has to be made freely. This was a beautiful tale of struggle and love and so much more and I would absolutely recommend giving it a read.

    When it comes to paranormal romance with kink Joey Hill is at the top of the genre. Joey has outdone herself with this latest installment in the Vampire Queen series. It was truly amazing. Her ability to paint a detailed picture in our minds is astounding. Her characters have such depth and heart. This story was so beautiful. I laughed, I cried, I sighed. I love how she wove characters from previous novels in this seris into this story. The hard core BDSM theme found in her previous novels is not here due to the unorthodox lifestyle of the vampire, Evan. None of the political drama and power plays in the previous stories are in this one. The kink still exists but is much lighter. Being an artist myself I wish I knew an artist like Evan. I'd buy his work as well. I look forward to more stories in this series.

    I am a hardcore Joey W. Hill fan and always begin each of her books with a serious sense of expectation--I do this knowing I will never be disappointed. Each of the stories in her wonderful Vampire Queen series has been an extraordinary journey into the unique world Joey has created, and TAKEN BY A VAMPIRE is no exception. I always read her books more than once--the first time because I can't wait to see what will happen next, and the second (and third and maybe fourth...) to savor the beautiful way she uses language. Her writing is absolutely flawless, the stories unique and addictive, and her world--while both terrifying and cruel--is also beautiful beyond imagination. I definitely recommend this book--and if you've not read the others in her series, save it to read after you finish the THE VAMPIRE QUEEN'S SERVANT, and the others that follow. I absolutely loved it! My sentiments echo many of those left here already. I could say lots about the relationship between Evan, Niall, & Alanna, but if you have been reading this series, you won't be disappointed in this installment. If you haven't read any in the series yet, you're in for a treat. I do think that the books are more enjoyable if read in order, but it's not strictly necessary. Another winner for Joey Hill!

The characters are written so well, that when I finished the book it left me wanting more! Honestly, if you don't like erotic romance, this isn't for you! But, if that's a flavor you enjoy, I would encourage you to read this authors work!

    Joey Hill is a fabulous author, and I highly recommend her "Vampire Queen" series. Taken by a Vampire is my new favourite. I absolutely adored Alana, Evan and Niall. As per usual with Joey Hill, this was a well written story with well rounded characters. Something I find is generally lacking in this genre.
