Soul Protector, Moon Water Paranormal Romance Series, Book 2 Kindle Edition
Dr. Nathan Hunter has forty-eight hours to save his job and find the missing Salt Coast Clan, a lost civilization locals believe is a myth. When ancient human remains turn up at the site of a new state water project along the Oregon Coast, he’s sure the lost tribe is real. Before he can examine the bones, however, a pretty female lawyer gets an injunction to stop him.
Nila Willopah sees ghosts. After failing to help a young boy cross over to the afterlife seven years ago, she hung up her shaman’s cape, left her family, and went to college to pursue a law degree. Three days before the bar exam, she’s summoned home by her grandfather to defend a sacred burial ground from a billion dollar state water project.
Although her soul is in danger from the spirits unearthed at the site, Nila is the one person who can stop the project and protect her ancestors’ last resting place from Dr. Hunter. She’s also the only one who can help the angry spirits cross over.
Nila suspects the sexy anthropologist is hiding a dark secret behind his clear blue eyes and skilled hands. A secret she wants nothing to do with. But when one of the ghosts latches onto his soul, Nila must set aside her fears and suspicions and once again enter the world of spirit communication to protect him.
Even if saving his soul means sacrificing her own.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2019Excellent! Soul Protector, the second book in the Moon Water Series by Misty Evans, is as amazing book as any she has written. Danger abounds and the antagonists are terrifying. Their opponents are actually two forces: the force of nature which is being manipulated by the other enemy, lost and lonely souls who have not been able to cross over because of their terrible death; they seek life even if it is not their own. Soul Protector has such a strong foot in the real world that it should appeal to most readers.
The main characters, Dr. Nathan Hunter-a physical anthropologist and Nila Willopah-an almost- lawyer and a past shaman of her Fire Path Nation both have been knocked down by their own weakness, but they are strong and brave and now have to face their greatest fears. They are forced to work together to end the immediate danger to themselves and anyone else in the area, an area that will extend over time if they do not win.
Because I received an ARC of Soul Protector, I have not yet read the first book in the series, I do not believe that lack inhibited my love of the book. I can’t wait to read Soul Survivor, which landed on my Kindle last night, and any future book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2019This book did something a book has not been able to do in a long time, it freaked me out, in a good way. I love a book with a subject that makes me feel just a bit freaked out, that is what I get for reading a book about ghosts in the middle of the night. This is the second book in the Moon water mystery series. The first book in the series was good, this one I think is just as good if not better.
Nila is a shaman who is just a bit out of practice, she has been away at and in school for years. She walked away from her life as a shaman and really does not want anything to do with that life, but when her grandpa asks her for help, how can she say no?
Nathan an anthropologist with a habit of rubbing people the wrong way is on site to do perhaps the biggest dig of his life. A recent Earthquake has unearthed about an acre of bones. Convinced that this is a lost civilization he wants the rights to continue to dig up the bones and to be able to remove them to study them, but Nila and her grandfather and the Fire Path Nation stand in his way.
I love a book with both strong female and male protagonists and a story so well written that it pulls me right in to the story and this book is one of those books.
If you love a book that is a bit spooky, has action and a sweet love story too then this is a must read.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2019The sequel to Soul Survivor was just as exciting and engaging!
We are introduced to two new characters, Dr. Nathan Hunter and Nila Willopah, both of whom are engaging with an internal battle of who they truly are. Their paths cross and let's just say their journey to self-discovery is not an easy one. Ghosts, Shamans, ancient human remains make this a book that you might consider reading during the day if you are faint of heart like I am. Despite the fact that I found it to be eerie at times, it did not deter me from wanting to read until the end. I found myself reading it every time I had a few minutes to spare!
Definitely hope the series continues!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2019The second book in the Lost Worlds show us that even modern day shamans are leery when it comes to dealing with numerous souls to help put to rest. Angry and scared, the souls attempt to attach themselves to those who's souls are vulnerable. Can this duo help?
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2019I really enjoyed this book and loved learning more about this world that Misty Evans created in Soul Protector (book 1 in this series) through Nila and Nathan’s story.
I loved both Nila and Nathan both as individuals and as a couple. I love how their relationship develops throughout the book, the initial denial of the chemistry that exploded when they first met, the eventual giving in to the physical desire, and then the realization that their bond was not just emotional, but also spiritual. They both really need each other to find their redemption, and I love how this story unfolds to give them both just that.
I loved the added depth that Keva and Rife from the first book added to the story and was so glad that they made an appearance and helped unravel part of the mystery as well as provide hope that there will be a future for Keva’s clan. I also loved how Keva and Nila interacted – there was such an honest reality in seeing them be wary of one another and withhold trust, but know they had to work with one another to resolve the issues that were created by the remains that have turned up and the ghosts that have become threatening.
The pacing was fast but the plot developed at the right pace to compliment the story, and the lore and mysticism added the perfect touches to bring Nila and Nathan together and get them to their happy ever after.
Another great read from Misty Evans!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2019Misty Evan's takes you on another wild ride dealing with the lost tribe of the Salt Coast Clan when their bones are disturbed by a mudslide. Will the duo of Nathan and Nila be able to conquer the ghosts and find happiness for themselves?
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2019This is the second book in the series and it's just as good as the first. The characters just pulled me right into the book. They had me right from the beginning. I was so invested in their story. This one intertwines with the past of the characters in the previous books so right there I was intrigued. Then add in Nila is a soul catcher which is pretty cool. There moments this book had me on the edge of my seat. I gobbled up this book because I had to know what happened next. Nila and Nathan had a lot of chemistry that I could feel instantly. I really loved that Keva and Rife make an appearance in this book. Loved seeing how they were doing. This is definitely a book I highly recommend.
