Paper snowflakes are wonderful decorations for any time of year, from Christmas to Easter to Halloween.
There is something magical and very satisfying about creating beautiful and intricate snowflakes from a single piece of paper. We have designed these snowflake templates to be simple and fun to cut. No need for a craft knife, mat or hole puncher, just a good pair of scissors and your ready to go.
After a few minutes of folding and snipping you will have some beautiful decorations for your home, workspace or classroom. Snowflakes in this book fall in to two types, four pointed snowflakes and six pointed snowflakes.
Paper
If you wish you can simply cut the templates out of this book. If you don’t want to cut up the book and are copying these templates on to sheets of paper use a light weight copy or printer paper, around 75gsm. Origami paper is also a fun option. Four sided snowflakes can be cut out of something a little more sturdy, up to 110gsm.
Scissors
A good pair of scissors makes all the difference to the results of your paper cutting. Small is good so that you can navigate them around more intricate corners of the templates.
Paper clips
Paper clips or small bulldog clips are handy to hold more intricate templates in place as you cut them out.
Snowflake cutting takes a little patience. Set aside time to enjoy the process. For all you perfectionists, remember that no two snowflakes are alike. If your looks a little different from the
template, don’t worry. Unique is good!
Cutting
When cutting six pointed snowflakes I usually use a pair of nail scissors. Make sure they are good quality and nice and sharp. The four sided snowflakes are easier to cut so you can use a slightly larger pair of scissors with nice sharp blades. As you cut you may feel the layers separate. In this case you can use a paperclip to hold the template together. Don’t try to cut out your snowflake in one go. Trim off excess paper and tackle intricate areas one by one.
Folding
The key to a good snowflake is folding technique. Take time to fold your snowflakes following the guides as accurately as possible. Take care unfolding your snowflakes.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2024disappointed that when copy for cutting the printing was so faint they were hard to see to cut.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2024If you love animals and also snow flakes then this is the book for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2023Some of these designs are pleasantly challenging even for more experienced person. Fiskars micro tips, or sharp tiny cuticle scissors work well. If you do not want to cut up the book to make the snowflakes, here is how I do it: I fold the paper carefully as shown in the instructions and draw the designs freehand. Or I trace the more intricate designs and then make a cardstock template to use with the folded paper wedges.
These can look great cut out of double sided origami paper, or even white lightly spray starched coffee filters. To preserve the snowflakes permanently for hanging, place them between clear contact paper.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2022I traced the bird one and did it on other paper (Didn't want to mess up the bood:. It turned out gorgeous. Can't wait to do more.
