The heir to the throne of Tirnanog, missing for fifteen years, is rumoured to be alive and attending Avalon Academy. Despite his hopes to finally have an ordinary school year, Kuro is relentlessly dragged into the centre of the hunt for the identity of the lost heir. He is hounded for answers he doesn’t have, pulled away from the safety of the school, all while his unfinished schoolwork taunts him with seemingly unavoidable failure.
Haunted by his criminal past and besieged on all sides by threats of expulsion, imprisonment, and romance, does Kuro have any hope of graduating from junior high, or of survival?

- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2024I am very happy to read the further adventures of Kuro. I really thought it was done with the 2nd book. Now with the end of this one it's left open for a possible 4th ad adventure.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2023If your kids loved Harry Potter they will love this. Read the first 2 quickly and excited for the 3rd book!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2024This series is criminally underrated. I can't wait for the next one. Amazing world-building, charming characters, good pacing. Consell does a great job at telling a wizard boarding school story without stumbling into some of the more annoying tropes. A delightful read for all ages.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2023A highly anticipated read! I devoured this book, staying up late in the night to finish it because it was just that interesting, quirky, funny, suspenseful and heartwarming! When I reviewed Pickpocketing, I wrote about how it often made me ugly cry for Kuro because it was so heartwrenching at times. I cried several times during this read as well, but only because it's so good, and my heart aches for Kuro, hopes for him and roots for him. I really hope Mr. Consell will continue writing Kuro's story, I just can't wait to find out how he gets on in High School!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best series!
Honestly every single stealing from wizards book is fantastic - this one brings together a few more strands of the story, but you also get snippets about other mysteries! The characters continue to grow in depth, and it's great fun throughout!
The series as a whole is in my very favourite list - akin to HP, but without any of the red flags, and I LOVE it for that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book and series for +8 year old to adult
We have loved this series from the outset, the third book has not disappointed! Was reading it to my child, however they loved it so much that they started to read it on their own. Now that the child is done reading I’m reading it myself. Really hoping there is another book in the series in the future!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars From the middle of the book until the end, I didn't get sleep. You have been warned.
This is the third book in the series. Make sure you read the first two before this one. People like to compare the series to Harry Potter except the adults are useful, bad things happen to the main characters, magic is hard, and the characters act like real people. These books are a quick read and are great for young kids(10) to adults. You have been warned once you start them you won't be able to put it down.
