This previously-unknown gem by the great Richard M. Powers is a real treasure that will appeal to kids, robots, or anyone who aspires to be either. It is clever, imaginative, beautiful, astonishing, and hilarious. I laughed until robot tears dampened my metallic cheeks. . . whereupon I began, slowly but contentedly, to rust.
