Is it normal not to receive a reply from KDP support after 24 hours? I asked them about reviews that were removed from my book. I told them I found it suspicious that the one 3-star review got upvoted around the same time the rest of my reviews (all good) were blocked from view. My guess is that someone maliciously hit the 'report abuse' button on the other reviews, forcing their deletion. Yes, it's that simple to sabotage a product's reviews. Just upvote their bad reviews and hit 'report abuse' on all the others. All my reviews, mark you, were verified purchases and anonymous. I especially need them today for a promo I'm running.

Flagging a review has the same effect with admin as a writer complaining his friends' reviews were removed. Unless a review is actionable in terms of slander or threats of violence, it stays where it is. Clicking helpful on a review means just that, it was helpful, and there's nothing wrong with a three-star review. As to KDP's response, check your spam folder, or reply to their original notification. But don't get your hopes up. They receive a million complaints about reviews from writers who have the misguided and mistaken belief that reviews are there for their benefit and that it's somehow their concern...they're not and it isn't.

Thanks for the reply, Ralph, but I have to say I received no notification of my reviews being taken down. Just saw them disappear one by one, and right after new activity on my page. They were very elaborate reviews, which is why I'm bummed. Checked my spam folder repeatedly since the activity begun, and so far nothing. Unless 'Reviews' is as swamped as you say, I'm left to speculate what happened.

In what way?

It's pretty shabby to ask for help, then hide the answer.

No, they don't send you a notification when reviews are removed, but they do send a response e-mail to yours...it's automatic. If you didn't receive that, then I don't think you sent them an e-mail via Contact Us.

However, I'm glad it was resolved, even if you don't want to share. Hello? Crickets?

Here's the deal: I got the standard review removal email from Amazon about thirty six hours after I had sent them an email asking why my reviews were purged. It was long, polite-as-usual, but also the customary 'we found data elements that match both you and the reviewer. I was tempted to reply but gave it up because I know that never goes anywhere. Also, because this was the second time something upsetting happened while I had a promotion on schedule, I couldn't even take the whole thing at face value. Last time, my price wouldn't update. This time around, on top of the DNC being on, I lost my better reviews (4 out of the five). Better luck next time, I suppose.
