I wonder if there is a way that Amazon offset royalty payments with a purchase.
Thanks.

Once you receive your royalties, you can spend it on anything you want.

Ralph is correct. You will get your royalty payment from Amazon (KDP) and then you can use that money to buy stuff on Amazon if you choose to do so.

I imagine the reason they don't do it is that (in the UK at least) it would make the tax situation at best very complicated and quite probably illegal.

They don't want the tax headaches something like that would cause. It would be a continuing nightmare, considering how many countries they'd have to deal with. Basic payments are enough for them to deal with.

Like all American businesses, and all American individuals with any sense, Amazon lives in terror of the Internal Revenue Service. It only does business that it can prove did not involve money laundering, criminal activity, terrorism, etc etc etc. That excludes paying royalties with gift certificates, PayPal, Bitcoin, and other ambiguous forms of currency. (An exception is the gift certificate option on Amazon Associates.)

They could offset them by country. The taxes couldn't be an excuse in XXI century, the technology edge.
Maybe money laundry.
