My novel has a sales ranking hovering around the 200,000 mark in the USA.

In the U.K. the same novel is about 25,000.

Why the difference? Are we not dealing with one worldwide market that should have one ranking system?

Amazon sells a lot fewer books in the UK. It takes a lot fewer books to rank higher there than in the US.

They are two seperate markets. A rank of 1,000 in the UK brings in only a fraction of the same rank in the US.

Thanks for the replies. I suspected that it took fewer sales but it would also make sense to have a worldwide ranking system. Thanks again

Ranking system on amazon depends on the number of downloads whether paid or free. It is easy to get ranked and improve rankings when downloads start but to come in first 100 is a tough job.

My books don't sell as well in the UK as they do in the US, and I mean proportionately. My latest's rank in the UK is twice as low (worse) as it is in the US.
