Good point about the discount too-yes, I noticed that was showing on the new reports.
Ours is showing at 65%.

82%!! that is rather alarming.

We publish fiction, and try to price the books reasonably for readers, since it is not a paper book with picking, packing, and shipping.

We pass along the savings to the reader, and still want to keep the authors happy.

But if Amazon can just do what they like, the publish and author share gets even less, forcing us to raise our prices, and then probably reducing sales, esp in this economy.

And no, we have not been paid all spring either.

So, at this point, what do we know:

Sales are missing for the first 2 1/2 days this month.
Discounts are being set up and down without our permission
The reports format has been changed this month-probably why the danged thing broke!
No one is answering any or questions despite people sending emails and us being referred to use this forum (perhaps they are on vacation this week and we will hear something soon?)
Publishers are not getting paid even for the books that are showing as sold.
So far on the Kindle forums, no customer is indicating they are having trouble getting content. Which is a good thing.

Let's hope someone answers us soon about these issues!

Many thanks!

One clarification on this part. I think you misunderstood which discount I was referring to. I wasn't talking about the 65% that Amazon keeps (paying us a royalty of 35%)... The discount I was referring to, is the discount to the Kindle User (on the listing - the price they pay for the book). I am not alarmed by the discounts they put on the books (on the listing), because "as per the Amazon Seller Agreement", we get paid on the "SRP" (Suggested Retail Price - the price "we" set), regardless of whether or not Amazon discounts it to the buyer. Those discounts to the buyer DO NOT affect our royalty.

Just wanted to clarify. Thanks.

BTW - My sales are starting to show up and also seem to reflect the period at the beginning of the month that was missing (June 1-3).

Ah, thanks! I see what you mean now.

Yes, it started registering about noon EST yesterday, so everyone is most likely missing 2 1/2 to 3 days of sales on the report, and I would love to know how they are going to rectify this.

I'm not surprised that June isn't showing sales yet,
but has anyone been PAID this month? Usually Amazon
is pretty prompt, and my "report" says "PAID" but it
ain't happened. Just curious.

Where do reports show "PAID". I don't have any columns like that in my reports area. Does mine look different from anyone else's? I included "Snapshots" of my reports page here. Nothing about being "PAID" in there (and I still have NEVER received a payment for any month).

The online "report" does not show paid. But the downloadable Excel file does. In the "B" Column (ASIN) PAID is designated to correspond with the total amount earned for that period (Column K - Cumulative Royalties Due). Presumably, "Paid" implies the funds have been transferred to the author's account, which (at least so far June 2009) has not happened.

Amazon, any response to this? I've emailed dtp-feedback directly and have not received a reply. If payments are pending, just say so. Otherwise, please resolve.

Not so sure this has been resolved; the sales showing seems a bit low for us for a whole week.

I agree. Sales definitely look under-reported. And does anybody have unusually high "returns" in their transaction report? Here it's only the 4th of June and I've got two returns already for a title that doesn't even average one a month!

I've never had a return. I attribute that to the high class of citizen that my titles attract :)

I finally starting seeing some transactions today - but my title that usually sells 15 - 20 copies a day is only being reported as having 13 sales for the month and 3 returns. I also have not yet received my royalty payment that I expected to get yesterday. Something strange is going on... I hope things get back to normal soon!

More likely not enough volume.

Has anybody been paid?
