My Month-to-Date Report and Previous Months' report went blank at the beginning of July. I'm new to DTP, so I was wondering if this is something that happens at the start of each month for a few days, or if I have a problem and need to contact support. Anyone know?

Yes, the report for the latest month (in this case May) normally takes a few days to be generated. They got it up pretty fast last month, so hopefully we'll see it soon. The month to date report simply resets to zero with the first day of the new month. So if that's still blank, you probably just haven't made any sales.

However, having said that, if your book normally sells consistently and you don't see anything, there have been glitches in the past where sales didn't record normally. But on my titles, at least, sales were recorded yesterday, so that seems to be working...

Cheers,
Mike

Can you tell me on what day of the month the payment goes into my account? I too went to have another look at the reports and it dropped all the info except what has sold since first of July....so I understand that but when can I expect to see monies go into my acct for June sales at the bank as now it is 2 days into July.

Hi :)
It takes 60 days to receive payment from the last day of the month in which you had a minimum of $10 in sales. .
If your sales totaled less than $10, then they will be added to the next month in which your sales reach $10.
Hope this helps.

I'm having a similar problem. I got my report up for the previous month's (June) sales, but my July month-to-date is saying there are no transactions, and yet there have been purchases. At least 3 that I know of... is this the glitch you mention?

I think so. I'm having the same experience. I generally sell 40-50 books a month, so though it's possible there have been no sales in the first two days of July, it's very unlikely.

Hmm. Not sure what to tell you, folks - I've had sales already this month, all three days. But it could also be that there's a glitch with some accounts and not others.

That's the problem: the DTP software (which is till in beta mode) isn't reliable enough yet to have enough confidence in not to worry about such things. The best you can do is send an email to dtp-feedback@amazon.com and see if they give you an answer... :-(

Cheers,
Mike

My account typically suffers from first of the month lag as well. However for the first time I have sales showing up the first two days. I sold 13 books in those two days.

My humble advice is, give it a couple of days. Yes, as has been pointed out, a fresh new report is generated every month. Most of the process is probably automated. In my case, new-month sales don't show up in a report for 3 or 4 days, and this weekend is a holiday weekend so there may be no one to address delays. I've been with Kindle long enough now to trust getting through the little ups and downs. Just keep track of the data, in case you DO need to report it. Good luck!

My account is definitely delayed today. 26 books first two days, only 2 today, which were in the wee hours of the morning. Plus, I have a new selection published two days ago, that is registering a 20,000 sales rank, but not showing up in my dashboard. Not the first time this has happened, probably not the last. We'll see if it catches up---I'm not worried.

This may be a stupid question, but the only way for a book to go up in the ranking, say from 57K to 28K is a sale or sales, right? If so, then my report isn't working either.

That could represent a sale, but right now I wouldn't necessarily count on it. The sales ranking algorithm is mysterious enough as it is, and with some of the things Amazon appears to be doing behind the scenes right now, I would be a lot less confident of that figure representing a sale than I would have been before.

If you see a title get bumped up in the 5000-1000 range, I would say that's definitely one or more sales. But past that, I wouldn't be so sure right now... :-(

Cheers,
Mike

Well...that's a bummer.

And something to keep in mind for the future. My report did finally register another sale this morning, though, thankfully.

I registered my first sale on the 4th (i.e. supposedly for the 3rd) and ten more this morning (i.d. the 4th). This seems very, very unlikely, given that yesterday everyone should have been out blowing off their fingers with fireworks. My guess is that there's a two-day lag in reporting sales, so that what I'm seeing are the results for July 1 and 2, or alternately that there's a significant lag in starting up the engine at the first of the month. (I'm not counting the obvious 1-day lag: obviously we're not going to see today's sales today.)
