What do you do when your download is stuck in the Draft mode for five days and you get no answer from your emails?

If you look over the forum you'll see several threads on the same or a similar subject. Are you getting the Failed to Save Server Unavailable error?

I have been stuck in draft mode for a week now, and it's driving me nuts.

Unlike you I have had replies to my emails but it's as if the KDP Help person replying hasn't read any of the previous history. At one point they promised to put the information in for me, but because I hadn't put "fiction" as the first part of the path, they asked for more information... which I gave them. Suddently that promise was forgotten and they told me to delete my cache and cookies, despite me telling them I had tried on a new machine.

I am not prepared to delete all my cookies because of the inconvenience and because I think this is a cop-out suggestion. If it doesn't work on a machine which hasn't seen this before and has no browsing history, then I don't think it's the cookies. Nor is it the operating system because so far I have tried 2 versions of IE, Firefox, safari and chrome, different machines, with no success.

I am not terribly computer literate but my hubby is. Unfortunately he's now abroad and not able to help me here.

What I haven't done is delete the draft version and upload again, basically because KDP promised to sort it out for me by inputting the information I gave them, but they have not done so. I'm scared that if I delete the current draft version I will not be able to get anything back on to replace it.... and they promised to deal with it. They can't update it if I've deleted it, so I'm stuck, really.

Someone has posted in another thread that that is how they uploaded theirs. ie, they deleted it then re-uploaded it... and they say that worked for them.

But I'm loth t try that at the moment, as I explained.

I am at my wits' end because I have marketing letters and Xmas cards ready to go, but with no product to link to. I expect I have lost poterntial sales, and I am not best pleased (understatement).

What we need is someone from KDP to come on here and post updates and suggestions because I think there are a lot of frustrated authors trying and failing to get their work up.

It would be less work for tKDP in the end to say, yes, there is a problem, and here's how some people solved it. Telling us to delete all cookies etc when it's not that, is just daft. The system should be able to cope with different browsers and should overwrite cookies. Amazon is a world- wide company, not some back-street boy using clapped out 20th century servers (I hope). They should be working hard to fix this.

This does not reflect well on them.

You may have a point about the cookies, I don't have any cookies and the index in cookies dose not work. As soon as I leave the net my cookies are deleted. I seen serval post about or just about the same subject. The people did answer me when my tax statement wouldn't go thru. it finaly did. My page don't say what the date was when I sumited it. But I know it was around 4 AM Nov. 30th. If it don't go today I'll delete it and try something else thanks for the come back.

At 10 PM 12/5/2011 I deleted my book and reloaded it now 4 AM 12/6/2011 it's live. I downloaded it from a different window's that I hadn't killed the cookie jar. Letting it put cookies in may have done the trick. Only thing is I got the wrong file and the Table of Contents has a preview of chapter nine. O well only the God's are perfect. One other thing the first time it was in WORD 2007 this time it was in WORD 2000 for some reason 2007 would not load microsoft reader and it had a couple other things I did not like so I went back to Word 2000 and a .Doc file not HTML. http://www.amazon.com/The-Dart-Game-ebook/dp/B006IM8QQ4/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1323177104&sr=1-4

At last. With much trepidation, I deleted the first upload which was stuck in "draft" and reuploaded the whole thing. I hope, I really hope I have got it right now.

It's under review.

I wish KSD Support had actually suggested I do that instead of telling me it was my browser, my cookies etc.

They told me the server issue had been fixed, but when I edited the saved draft, it failed to save numerous times. I suspect something got corrupted during the save when the server first failed and this meant, though I could see the book OK on preview, it would not progress any further.

Ifg any one else is stuck like this, it might be worth trying the same.

Great that's two of us. One thing more the first time I uploaded it I don't think I put the date in. This morning I was able to download the preview to my computer kindle so it must be working. Hope you have good luck with yours. And the funny thing is I emailed them 2 days ago, and what do you know this morning I got a return on my email saying they saw where I had deleted it and told me how to reupload it. I'd already beat them too it.

Hello

I have also been stuck in draft mode for two days... I wish I had seen this sooner! I have just deleted my book and started again, hopefully that should work.

Are you still having problems or have you now gone live?

Hi Lauren,

Mine looks OK now it's up and a couple of friends have bought it and report no issues. I can't see their sales on my account yet, though.

The preview on Amazon looks OK but I don't know how it looks on a Kindle. When I looked at it during the Upload and conversion it looked fine. Have a look for yourself

I hope you get yours up OK. I must say this has been a very frustrating experience, partly due to my lack of courage, ie not wanting to delete what was up already, and partly because the stuck upload said I didn't need to upload, just reconvert.

I told all of this to KDP Support but they didn't suggest I delete and start again. Once I'd contacted them I didn't like to mess about further by deleting when they might have been tinkering.

I saw someone else had deleted and thought I'd try. Once it worked for me I thought it important to share that too.

I had a problem with the pricing and had to do it in dollars not GBP, which confused me, especially as the minimums are different.

Fingers crossed for you.

After checking my Emails I have realised that I am a complete idiot! I am very new to all of this uploading business so you'll have to forgive what I am about to say as it's quite laughable :)

I didn't list myself as author in the contributors section... how stupid that it never even occurred to me to put my own name down! At it stands, my book was edited but nothing else... Now feeling extremely foolish and off to slap my wrists! :)

Yes I found that you have to put something in every box even if it says you don't have to. Like the cover in the book you need to put it in the display box too. And when I did I picked up a different one. Mine stayed in Draft because I did not put the date in. Althow they did not tell me that. To bad they don't shorten the screen size so you don't have to go way over to the right to see everthing.

O well only the God's are perfect
