So, I'm resetting my payment options after Amazon changed them all to check.
US one (I reside in the US) now goes by wire transfer, in dollars, to a US bank account.
When I tried to set the UK one, though, it wouldn't let me choose dollars--I got this message: "You may only associate 1 bank account with each currency. To use a different account than the one shown above, you must select a different currency."
Um, OK, so I guess I could have that one come in pounds.
But then Germany, France, Italy, and Spain are all listed in Euros. Are they saying I could only let ONE of those pay me in Euros, and then I would actually need separate bank accounts for the other three?? That makes no sense. Or are they trying to force me to wait for the 100 Euro threshhold and take a paper check?
Well, I only have one bank, and I only want money in dollars--that's what it wasn't letting me do. Thus my confusion. It would let me select pounds for the UK site, but it would not let me select dollars.
However, my bank then told me that they'd charge me $10 to accept a wire from overseas, and $5 to convert the currency. So I suppose if the UK site sent me a transfer for 10 pounds, I could end up owing money on it. Ha ha. Even if it came in dollars, it would just disappear due to fees. So ... I guess I'll wait for a check for 100 pounds?? And then pay the conversion fee on that. But it makes me think I'll just never see my money from Germany and France, because at this rate, it'll take forever to get 100 euros from each of those. I wish they could at least merge the European sites, which are paying in the same currency.
Well, that's what I think should happen too--but it's not what happens with my account.
I do see my bank account info there, but I can't select dollars. It won't let me. I get that message: "You may only associate 1 bank account with each currency. To use a different account than the one shown above, you must select a different currency."
I don't want to use a different account from the one shown. But I can't keep it and select dollars, or I get that message. I want to use the SAME account as the one shown. But I can't.
However, if it makes more sense to wait for a paper check anyway, I suppose it doesn't really matter what's wrong with my account. I did sent Amazon an email a few days ago, but no answer.

Of course, since I now know it would cost me $15 to receive $10 from overseas, at my bank, I had to back and change them all to checks again. It'll be years before I get anything from Germany or France! lol
