I'm not in the US and my first Amazon book was published in 2013. Back then I didn't have an EFT option so I opted for check payment. I understand about the threshold and knew it would take a while to meet it, so I just left it at that, letting the royalties accumulate.
In October 2016 I finally found an EFT option that worked for me and changed my payment preference to EFT. I started getting paid royalties but only from July 2016 onwards. All of the royalties I've earned from August 2013 - July 2016 have been unpaid.
I reported it to KDP customer service on February 5, 2017. They said it was a 'complex issue' and that it was already with the accounts payable team. I followed up, using KDP Contact Us, on March 17, April 18 and today, May 18. Still no resolution and I still get the canned response from KDP. I don't have someone to email about this to be able to follow up and I highly doubt it would take 4 months to resolve this.
Anyone had a similar experience with any tips to resolve? I'd be happy to find an email address I can follow up with directly instead of the Contact Us button. Thanks.
If you started a new 'thread' each time you contacted customer service, you took things back to stage one. You need to reply TO the communication you received from them. ... Hopefully someone on this forum can advise you.
To my understanding, KDP still takes the threshold out of your royalties for the time you were getting paid by check. You probably just made enough royalties at that time to cover the threshold. When you changed over to the EFT system you will receive royalties every two months as promised in the amount of your royalties accrued less taxes if applicable. Therefore, the royalties you made in the first three years just covered the original threshold agreement.
Royalties are paid 60 days after the last day of the month they're earned in. So July's would've been paid at the end of September, August's at the end of October, and so on.
Royalties for the previous years that hadn't added up enough to result in a check therefore should've been added to your first EFT payment paid to you at the end of October 2016. Are you certain the amount you received at the end of October wasn't more than your total August sales? Or more than your total July and August sales?
