Actually I will soon goto "my Account" and similar places first, then "Reports" second... in order to alter my "tree" as I wander thru MSDOS. Instead of the
opposite approach. It's like exploring KDP. It is not that hard.

A "sale" means you've sold 1 book. It may be an expensive book or a cheap book. It may have been sold in the US or Nigeria. It's still a sale.

A "payment" is a royalty payment for selling books. If you had a $2.99 book, for which you get approximately $2 in royalty for each sale, then after selling 50 books you'd get a payment for about $100.

On the Reports page, there's a graph that shows "sales." (Actually it shows "orders," which means someone tried to buy and one hopes succeeded, but let's not worry about it.) The month-to-date report also shows sales for this month.

The money amounts listed under the graph are the amounts you've earned so far from sales, which will eventually become a payment.

I've figured it out. If I were a "pure" customer from "zon" then I'd get totally different data. In fact it would result in at least 2 different accounts.
Etc. That has to be it. Spreadsheets would not appear. Just receipts, etc. That seems to be clear for now. Those people out there... pure
readers... would have very simple accounts.

Hi,

Just want to say "Thank you."

Amazon needs to pay you for services rendered. You do a better job than their FAQ writers.

QUESTION #1: If I never entered bank account information after the policy change, will Amazon send a check?

I really do not want EFT deposits. Every time I get one, my kids lose their healthcare until I provide proof of income. It creates a huge mess each time. If Amazon would pay into Paypal, it would not be an issue, since that is not monitored and I just pay taxes at tax time.

QUESTION #2: I've read that with EFT deposits are made very often (multiple times per month). Is this true? Because if it is, it would make it next to impossible for me because the above problem would occur each time.

Although I'm extremely sympathetic to the plight of anyone in danger of losing health insurance, I still have trouble thinking that you would lose your insurance for a $5 deposit into your account. Talk to the Medicaid people about this (or whoever runs the program).

Direct deposits are made once a month. If you had direct deposit, you would be getting, at the end of January, money for any sales and pages-read in November. Now if you earned money in both the US and (say) the UK, you would get two deposits at the same time, one for each country. But not sure why you'd think you'd be getting deposits multiple times all through the month. Read this whole thread. It will help you.

Good luck!

Saw someone else post about multiple deposits. Small ones throughout a month.

WE in Canada have sent in some data by Email. Maybe this is relevant to us. We cannot get any extensive feedback from any local
office, so we need to goto Seattle directly. Will this work? We are still being owed $4 in our own currency. Even that small amount
will restore confidence in the quality of Amazon.com Inc. service, both here and yonder. Now we can call ourselves "real" authors,
which will be good for "our" company "rep". I will be looking for that money in my new company account. (My own holdings.) We mean
the guys who do our artwork.

Q Can I get a discount if I buy my own KDP ebook?

A No, not directly. But you do get royalties on all sales, including sales to yourself. So you will get an effective discount of either 35% or 70%, depending on your royalty rate.

It is generally recommended to buy your own book to see how it looks on an actual Kindle. Besides, if the book is new, it gives it a first sale and a ranking.

Q My payments are all messed up! How can I telephone Amazon to make them straighten them out?

A Amazon doesn't have phone support for KDP indies. My guess is that one too many confused people called up and screamed at them. So read through all this thread again, try to figure out where your payments are, and if it still doesn't make sense, contact Amazon directly via "Contact" link at lower right. I recommend asking very nicely and avoiding all-caps or lots of question marks and exclamation marks.

I know this is an old thread but thought I'd ask anyway.

From what I read here, since my first sale happened in mid-April this year, I will receive my first royalty check the end of June. Am I safe to assume it will be only for April royalties, that May royalties will be paid the end of July and June royalties the end of August?

Paraphrasing Henry Higgins, "By Jove, I think he's got it!" Yes, I think you're correct on all points.

The royalty delay helps take care of money back-and-forths related to various adjustments, especially returns. By the time you get your royalty, you can be pretty certain that nothing is going to come back for any of that money (unless you've committed fraud, of course, and are later found out).

I have had one book on KDP for a couple of years (with a bank account specified) and cannot see that I have received a payment ever. SInce it was only 9 $ or something like that I didn't pay that much attention but now I have 10 books on the list and I see a lot of KOLL and pages read listed. I am wondering how to check if I was paid in the past and to be sure that I will be paid going forward. My book count increased in May so, theoretically, with the end of month plus 60 days I should see something the end of July. My account says my bank was verified and my tax info is correct. I get emails monthly saying that something will go into my account but cannot see a debit from Amazon. How would it appear?
