I've been averaging 30+ sales per day for the last 10 days. Now, all of a sudden, I've only sold 3 books today. Anyone else notice such a drastic drop since January ended and February began?

Yes, Joe. I've been averaging between 80 to 100 sales per day for the past two and a half months. Plenty of time to develop a pattern.

Today, I've had ONE. And my ranking has varied from in the 1,700's this morning, ro 1,527 for most of the day, to now around 1,380. I know the rankings are based on a relationship to all books sold -- but I've only had 1 (one) recorded sale all day. Kinda freaky.

Any similiar experiences out there? It could just be the first of the month and some glitch in getting the changeover going.

If it helps, I know for a fact sales aren't updating. I was told two people bought my book this morning but my sales still show zero. So a co-worker downloaded it (I watched him) and that was five hours ago. Still no sales. Something is amiss. Maybe it's the fact that it's the first and they are inundated with phone calls. Oh, wait. That's impossible isn't it?

Thanks for the update, Colleen. That makes me feel a little better. After all, how can a book that's been selling well and still ranked fairly high, suddenly just fall off the cliff in one day.

Ditto, last three days I sold 11, 12, 12 books. So far today only one book sold.

I think the gremlins are again infesting the Reports site.

If the gremlins are infesting the site, I wonder... has amazon ever "lost" a book sale? If they did, would they even mention it? How would we know?

me too. I've only sold two books today which is my worst day for two months. I was feeling quite resigned and miserably until I read this thread. Now I'm trying to convince myself that there's a glitch in the system and happiness will be resumed very shortly because failure to cheer up might result in excessive chocolate consumption

It appears to mostly be books in KDP Select. One of my novels is in KDP Select and went free yesterday and today. Yesterday it had massive numbers of downloads and it got to #15 free. At 9AM eastern time this morning, it was ranked #18 and had zero downloads for the new month. I checked again at 11Am and it had 140 downloads. Since 11AM, zero additional downloads. It seems extremely unlikely that a free novel ranked top 20 in the free store went 8 hours with no downloads.

Meanwhile, the novel I have that is not in KDP Select is showing pretty much normal sales numbers today.

I was very down in the dumps as well as I have the brown bar of shame! Just decided to check out Author Central to find this message:
"We are experiencing a delay in updating your sales info. Rest assured that we are working to update this page as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!"
This is on A.com and A.co.uk. I had been jogging along nicely with sales until today, especially in the UK so maybe there really is something wrong! Let's hope so!

Same thing here with me...had a trend going with a promo...sold 100 on 1/31...most of the day today was showing 0 units sold, but 11 borrows...until about 10 minutes ago and now I show 2 units sold, still 11 borrows, and best seller rank has been around 1,500 all day which is where it was after all the sales on 1/31...something has either runamuk or the Kindle world changed drastically on 2/1/12.

This happened back in june or so as well. It's frustrating, to be sure, but they should get it cleared up soon enough. Keep an eye on your sales ranking in the meantime, it'll let you know how you're sitting in general or so.
