After they let us spend countless hours compiling e-books in order to boost their KDP service, with no clear, straightforward content quality guidelines, they suddenly ‘discovered’ that some e-books and some accounts are not up to their elusive, murky standards, and have begun to delete publishers accounts, which, for some people may have been a significant source of income, especially during these trying economic times. Shame on you Amazon! Is that how you treat your authors? By biting the hand that is feeding you? You either set up a set of clear content quality standards from the get-go, based on which you either INITIALLY accept or reject e-book submissions, or, if you choose to accept them, you retain them and work with your independent authors to improve their works. That is how a serious business that gives a hoot about their authors operates. I think some sensitivity is required from ‘The World’s Largest Bookstore’…

So which was yours? Resell right articles or scraped content from Wikipedia?

Amazon's been deleting such ebooks, and the accounts of those who have only have such content, for roughly seven months now.

Here's a tip, don't cheat the system - and that's what that sort of content is - you don't have to worry about losing your source of income.

Sir, I appreciate your reply and with all due respect I think you're being naive; do you really think that a giant like Amazon can be cheated by you or me unless it, for some reason, wants to be? A simple 10 second Google search available to anyone would weed out the free content immediately - not to mention that KDP could afford to make this selection with far more sophisticated means... Apparently they thought 'let these idiots upload whatever they want so we can make a big splash with our new Kindle and we'll figure out what to do with them later...' . And apparently they have!

Just curious and assuming you are affected (meaning your account was deleted), why exactly did they smash you? You are talking about authors in your first posting, so we are talking about self-written books? Or did you use PLR/MRR content or Wikipedia content? If yes, there were so many flags on the field regarding this that I can not count them anymore. Even the last "author" should have noticed that he will get busted if he does not add value to his content or take these books down. So again, do you think you were treated in an unappropriate way and are you an "author"?

I'm curious too...it's scary to think that they are just deleting accounts for no reason. It must have violated some kind of TOS..

As the guy has spent "countless hours compiling e-books" I guess copy and pasting wiki articles.

Good catch. I missed that. ;)

Yes, authors talk about 'writing' their books. Those gaming the system with freely available content or resell stuff talk about 'compiling' ebooks.
