I'm not going to call him out, but if he reads this, he'll know it is him.

For those who've been posting here for awhile, you probably remember A with his 20k serial books coming out every two weeks. To be blunt, most posters criticized him, and a few called him names. He was not being "literary," he was not trying to put out perfect work. He stuck to his guns, however.

Two or three years and three million words later, he is an Amazon Top 100 writer for his genre and making six figures. I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't sure his paradigm would work, but I'm also willing to admit now that I was wrong. I see it can work.

I tip my hat and say good on you, A.

Serials can be quite engaging and I know a lot of people enjoy them. Grats on the success if he's still reading this forum.

I remember seeing his posts during that time, although he hasn't been posting much lately. That's a great achievement--it's nice to see a clear strategy and hard work paying off.

So happy for you, Mr. A. You were a big help to me when I had a question about marketing after I first published. :)

I can't really call him out here, although some people know who he is just from what I posted. He's been pretty open about himself in the past, so if he hits the forum again and reads this, he can reveal himself.

Congrats from me too!
I only know A by his forum name, and don't even know if I've ever read one of his serials, as I have no clue what name he writes under. But it's always a pleasure to hear when one of us makes it!
I knew you'd get far tho, when your 'passive writing/work' started making more than a day-job salary a few years back!

His forum name takes you directly to his Star Force books. In addition to delivering a story to his readers on the same day biweekly, the other smart thing he does is bundling his episodes. He's also done an excellent job of establishing a brand, both visually and in theme.

He's pretty up front about how he works and the results of his dependability and tenacity:

Ha, ha, ha, Dee Tezelli, Seattle. your statement sent me into shock. I laughed, then suddenly stopped and looked at your statement again. My second reaction was wanting to cry. "God, how I wish what you said was true." But there is nothing wrong in dreaming.

I knew who he is on the forum, but clicking on his name has never made me any wiser of which books/novellas he writes - I can't see any details on there.
I'll have a look for star force on amz :)

Hi Elodie. That's his first name. If you google his forum name, it will show a link to the Amazon page with his works.

Jonathan, I think you remember that I once told you that I have been following your advice very closely. Basically I write while holding on to your coat tail. Being Indian it takes me time to figure out whats happening and whats being said. So thanks. I copied pasted Mr A's long speech. He used his brains and did hard work to succeed. And he was kind enough to share his experience in this forum.

I know that I was not overly convinced that the serial style would work in the digital age with the readers not having the same expectation that they would in a magazine for example but he has apparently built a solid reader base willing to pay the price for shorter works and coming back for each release.
