Is there anyone here that is proficient in Kindle who could fix the formatting errors I have in a manuscript. I used the Kindle Add On for Word and thought that it had done everything for me, but the TOC still needs to be programmed to be interactive and some of the pages are off. I would be willing to pay $50 an hour to someone who knows what they are doing and could help me with it. Thanks.
Sorry about the delayed response. Kindle Create is still a beta version and has many problems. I wouldn't use it for publishing at this stage. There are good specialists on this forum and I hope you found someone for your ebook.
If you are trying to use it, please remember that you have to first do certain formatting tasks in Word before you load the Word doc into Kindle Create(KC) i.e you cannot do all your ebook formatting in Kindle Create. I also notice that lot of people are saying that KC has many problems when the truth of it is that most of the people who make these comments are actually quite clueless as to how to properly use KC. I've been using and testing KC ever since it was released. So I have spent some considerable time learning how to use it properly.
Before you load your Word doc into KC, you must first ensure that you complete all the following formatting tasks in Word:
*Add all internet links and internal links in Word
*Add all ebook images in Word
*Add the TOC in Word
*Add the semantics for cover, toc and begin read in Word(used for the Go To menu on Kindle Devices)
When people first start using KC, they also seem to assume that they can format everything in KC -- which, as I've said, is a very wrong assumption. Just complete the above tasks above in Word before you load your Word doc into KC and you should have few problems. Formatting an ebook using KC is also much easier than formatting a Word doc for KDP upload. Using KC to format your ebook also guarantees that your ebook will always have Advanced Typsetting enabled.
Thanks for sharing these tips. Kindle Create is no longer a beta version; therefore, I upgrade my recommendation from "avoid" to "use for publishing, with thorough testing of the published ebook"
On the other hand, Kindle Create Add-in for Word is a beta and therefore is not recommended for publishing.
