I've had almost 500 paid downloads in UK and US combined and only 1 lend. The vast majority of my sales have been UK and the lend was US. The book has only been out since January 3rd so I'm not at all sure if this ratio is typical.
I'm not sure why, but I think two of my short stories are an oddity within the KDP realm.
For Dec, Jan, and Feb, I had pretty much 1 borrow for every 2 books sold.
This morning, one of my stories has twice as many borrows as sales - and since it's a $.99 offering, I'm very happy to see that.
I don't have a ton of sales (60 borrows in Dec, 75 in Jan, and 50 in Feb) - but the program is well worth it to me.
Of course, we'll see what happens since I think i got my first malicious review this morning: " I wish I would have quit reading this. But I wasted my time waiting for it to pick up." - it's a 10 minute read...and this was the first review for this critic.
Ahh well, we'll see how it goes!
I have to admit I'm surprised by what people are saying. I was originally thinking there would be more borrows than sales. However, I saw someone say on another board that in looking for a Select book to download, he became aware of other books he wanted to read, and he just went ahead and bought them because he didn't want to wait another month to read his next selection.
Wow sales and borrow figures here are astounding. Can I ask how sales were when you all first started out and if you did any marketing to reach those figures? I had 34 borrows last month far more then sales.
