Book written on iPad using Notes. Very confused about Ebook conversion

I have read dozens and dozens of blog posts about creating an Ebook. I have watched hundreds of YouTube videos about Scrivener, Vellum, Word etc. Now my head is spinning and I am completely lost. Could someone guide me in the right direction?

My book is done. I have a Ebook cover and the book was written using the Notes App on my iPad. I have 12 Notes files to represent chapters, copyright page, table of contents etc. This book will only be an Ebook.

What do I do next? Where do I take this book so it can be properly formatted for Ebook publication?

I have a Mac, Scrivener for Mac, Scrivener ios, Vellum 2.0 and Microsoft Word for Mac.

Thank you for all replies

You can use scrivener, word or any word processor to make those files into one document and save it in one of the formats Kindle accepts. Opinions differ as to the best one.

Get the files onto your computer. (You can't upload from a tablet.) As Emily says, everything except the cover needs to be in one file (you upload the cover separately). Scrivener and Vellum are really designed for use during the writing process, which you've already completed, so Word is your best simple choice.

I'm a Mac user too, and I've never been a big fan of Word, but it gets the job done. You'll want to save in .doc format (.docx also possible but sometimes has issues).

You absolutely have to use Styles in Word for paragraph indents and preferably for chapter titles and the like. Since you're looking at videos, look at ones that teach you about Styles if you can't figure it out on your own. Also look on these forums for posts by NotJohn. He has links in his signature block to his blog where he explains about how to use Styles.

KDP has a program called KDP Jumpstart (google it) that holds your hand and takes you step by step through formatting and uploading your manuscript. They assume your book is in Word. (They include videos!) Good luck!

As C Dale says, the first step is getting the files onto your computer. The Notes app will sync to your Mac if you have it set up to use iCloud, which is the default setting.

Scrivener is a great app for writing (I use it every day), and it can produce acceptable output if you know a few tricks. I don't use it for final output because I prefer to "hand-format" my files in Sigil.

However, if you're not experienced with Scrivener, you may find Word the least unpleasant option. You still need to know what you're doing with styles; I recommend reading the free Smash*words style guide.
