Okay, if that's true, try putting in Sherlock Holmes, then hit kindle store. Starting on page 2 one author has 6-8 books that have nothing to do with SH. It must cost a fortune to have these as sponsored ads this far up the pages. Does this serve the seeking public to have something on a page just because someone is willing to pay for it? I'm still trying to learn how this all works and then I'll get off my high horse.

You are making the erroneous assumption that those porn titles being returned by your search string are paid placements. They're not. Read my post again.

Again, I wish you every success with your work.

All the ads are "Sponsored Ads", are they not paid ads? Excuse my ignorance if I'm not understanding how this works. PS I promise this is my last comment on this subect

The AMS Sponsored ads are by keyword. Yes, they pay for them. I pay .02 (2 US pennies) per click (not impression).

I have been unable to reproduce the results you claim (and I believe you did somehow manage to see what you say you did) using your search string "otter stories e-books," as well as a few variations such as the simple "otter books," on:

Edge

Chrome

Firefox

Amazon

Amazon > Books

Amazon > Kindle Books

Searches on all of these have returned many listings of children's books, naturalist books, odds and ends books about otters, and a number of benign (in the sense of nothing shocking or objectionable) non-otter nonfiction books and novels.

I found nothing that would have alarmed me if I'd had a four-year-old, six-year-old, eight-year-old, or virginal aunt sitting next to me.

So I am not persuaded that either your book or a parent with a young child beside him or her are in jeopardy here.

Re: searches, ads, keywords for both sponsored and non-sponsored (that is Amazon's KDP book-creation pages) titles, and venues searched, I think posters have been mixing apples, oranges, and pomegranates.

And one last time - please, jm14, please! - I wish you every success.

I just did the "otter stories e-books" search on Amazon, using Firefox, and only found one bizarre entry in the first three pages (it was on the first page of results, naturally):

First Time Gay: Three Stories of MM First Time Older Man Younger Man Gay Experience

Given that all the other returns seem on topic or inoffensive, I'm not sure how that got there. The O.P. should get some screen grabs if he's going to converse with the KDP/Zon folks.
