Hey guys,

My name is Jeremy James, and I achieved "big time" status yesterday - I became a published author on Amazon.com. Now, I know that anyone can do that, but, for me, it bring a sense of achievement, so, I will relish in the fact that I am now "published."

Over the last several years, I have developed and refined a method of getting resolutions from companies that either provide poor customer service, or don't provide good customer service, and I have placed that in an E-Book with a step by step process. I know it has helped not only me, but also friends, deal with Verizon, Sprint, Dell, HP, Advanced Auto Parts, and Wal-Mart.

I know that there is a big market out there for this information, because we all see customer dissatisfaction at increasingly bad levels.

I have had my own website for over a year now, and have had very limited results (4 sales) after some attempts at marketing on various sites. I am hoping that through the publishing of my book in both the Self-Help and Business categories, that I can get some results.

Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself.

I hope you all are doing great!

Jeremy James

Welcome Jeremy, glad to have you here with us. Good luck with your book. I'm sure there are many who have shared the same frustrations with poor customer service and shoddy products who will appreciate it.

Thanks so much for the well wishes and welcomes.

What are some good tips to market/increase sales? I have had my own site, where of course, I make more per book sold, but, I am much more willing to have a larger volume. How can I capitalize upon all that Amazon has to offer?

To the original poster...

So did Amazon support at least attempt to answer your concerns? - or did they just fob you off with their robotic statements about review guidelines?

I am also a new writer here and my book has only one review....

http://www.amazon.com/Traders-Scourge-Flight-Carinae-ebook/dp/B006SH2RWS

I asked for the review to be pulled as it is clearly malicious, but I have had no luck.

My concern is that even if I spent a week editting the novel - not that it needs it - the bad review does not go away....

I hate to say it, but from looking at the blurb, I have to agree with the reviewer.

It looks like a good story, but the editing makes it very difficult to read.

The very first thing I would do if I were you would be to add breaks between paragraphs. It's hard to tell where a new paragraph begins. If you did nothing but this, it would improve things greatly.

There were no obvious grammatical errors, but the sentence structure was, for the lack of a better word, clunky. Many of the sentences were too long. Again, most of them weren't "wrong", but they're just hard to read in their present form.

I suspect you're too close to the book to effectively edit. Again, there are no obvious spelling or grammar errors. You caught all of those, but the sentence structure is just clunky. If a friend went through it with a red pencil, I bet it would work wonders.

Again, it looks like a good story. But the reviewer is right--it needs help with editing.

If you add the paragraph breaks, many readers won't notice the sentence structure. So I suggest you do this today. Then, have a friend or family member go through and break the sentences up into more manageable chunks.

Again, it's not bad, as long as you clean up these issues. But Amazon isn't going to remove the review because, unfortunately, it's right.

Since the review won't go away after the edit, you might conisder responding to him, after you've done the edit. I would add something along the lines of, "thank you for your valuable criticism. Because of your review, I have done an extensive edit of the work, and the problems you have discovered are now gone".

"Well, best of luck to you!" That's what Ray Bradbury said to me when I met him (very briefly) in 1983, and I told him that I was an aspiring writer. True story.

Thanks so much! I only want to sell 6 million copies or something like that.

I wonder what the record for personal sales on Amazon.com is?

I hope that you do sell 6 million copies, and maybe nab a movie deal one day too. That would be the ultimate victory.

Good luck with your work.

Hi clemlaw,

Thank you so much for your advice and I have cooled down somewhat from my earlier annoyance with this reviewer.

I felt like he was bagging out the whole premise of the novel, though I do admit I had format style problems uploading it several weeks ago.

I have a later smashwords copy that I can work on and this will work out well.

I will bump up the price to discourage purchases whilst I fix this issue...

Thanks once again!
